I ain't sayin' nuthin' but this is hot. Danjahandz to the rescue.

I approve.
― Turangalila, Friday, 31 August 2007 03:47 (eighteen years ago)
It's good and surely it will do well on the radio, but it's not blow-you-away-oh-my-god amazing. Perhaps her management is going for the decent 1st single that will do well on the virtue that it's Britney's comeback single, and then a great follow-up that doesn't sound like 500 songs heard on R&B radio the last couple years.
― musically, Friday, 31 August 2007 04:03 (eighteen years ago)
This is a lot better than "Get Fuckin' My Back." But I agree with musically, this is a "Me Against The Music" type single, competent, certainly danceable, catchy, but not groundbreaking. CROSS FINGERS that the followup is the "Toxic" of 2007.
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 31 August 2007 04:29 (eighteen years ago)
On the plus side: It's Britney, bitch!
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 31 August 2007 04:30 (eighteen years ago)
Also, it's already totally stuck in my head. Maybe I'm being too harsh.
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 31 August 2007 04:33 (eighteen years ago)
...But I agree with musically, this is a "Me Against The Music"...
But is ten times better than MATM! That background synth on the chorus is just amazing. It's not "Toxic" but at this point I'd say it's my second fav Britney song.
― daavid, Friday, 31 August 2007 06:30 (eighteen years ago)
OK, I'd actually say this is more like a "I'm a slave for you".
― daavid, Friday, 31 August 2007 06:31 (eighteen years ago)
*listens to it 5 more times*..."SINGLE OF THE YEAR"!
― daavid, Friday, 31 August 2007 07:05 (eighteen years ago)
Love the NES-ness of the backing track. Reminding me a lot of The Firehawk Saga by Bootleg Blitzkrieg.
― Doctor Casino, Friday, 31 August 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)
Better than Sexyback (but then again, every noise is) and I can actually still see it being a hit.
― Cunga, Friday, 31 August 2007 07:48 (eighteen years ago)
It's amazing how much mileage the "It's/I'm ________, bitch." still has.
― Cunga, Friday, 31 August 2007 07:56 (eighteen years ago)
didn't blow me away the first time, but it so gets better the second, the third, the fourth time. Excellent stuff.
Please let her not screw this up.
― Roz, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:29 (eighteen years ago)
Love the tune, not sure about the vocals for the moment. Also that ending is really weird.
― baaderonixx, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:42 (eighteen years ago)
on its first listen, sounds a lot like Kylie, Body language era.
― danzig, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:46 (eighteen years ago)
love it, and yeah the bleepy Body Language style is definitely part of the reason.
― mark e, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:50 (eighteen years ago)
this is so informed by Sexyback it's ridic but i quite like the chorus. i hope the video is her in Barcelona being a covert agent but done with a BLUE tint.
― blueski, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)
BAHBAHBAHBAHBAHBAH-BAh!!!
This is about six million times better than all the fake new Britney songs that've been popping up around the internet.
― I know, right?, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:56 (eighteen years ago)
Thank God.
Britney is back.
― I know, right?, Friday, 31 August 2007 10:57 (eighteen years ago)
sounds just like the way i are but more repetitive and not as good.
― titchyschneiderMk2, Friday, 31 August 2007 12:10 (eighteen years ago)
ITS BRITNEY BITCH!
― titchyschneiderMk2, Friday, 31 August 2007 12:13 (eighteen years ago)
i could actually do without the whole song and just live with a repeated loop of 'its britney bitch'.
― titchyschneiderMk2, Friday, 31 August 2007 12:15 (eighteen years ago)
OTM regarding Kylie. I really like the backing track (the bleeps do it for me), but her voice is just so... meh
― tissp, Friday, 31 August 2007 12:38 (eighteen years ago)
her voice sounds like its a monotone murmur the whole song. someone should give her a decent melody.
― titchyschneiderMk2, Friday, 31 August 2007 12:47 (eighteen years ago)
Uh, have you been checking the gossip sites? Maybe she won't spoil the single itself, but she's messed up her image far too much to really salvage anything that's remotely career related. I mean, ffs, she (or her reps) even failed to return Ne-Yo's calls. Do people actually care enough to go out and buy this single (or album)?
― nathalie, Friday, 31 August 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)
The demon-voiced Britney saying "mawwwre" during the chorus is not to be underestimated. This just feels much more vital than I expected. I'm not a huge Britney follower (as much as one can not be a Britney follower) and I wasn't even trying to keep up, but this just blew me back.
― matt2, Friday, 31 August 2007 13:40 (eighteen years ago)
good beat, generic song. not strong enough to be a real comeback single
― Hurting 2, Friday, 31 August 2007 13:50 (eighteen years ago)
i think absolutely anybody else at all would have had more charisma than britney has on this record
― tissp, Friday, 31 August 2007 14:18 (eighteen years ago)
The description on the website was pretty accurate: "sexy, pop, techno Euro-influenced dance beats that require little-to-no vocal ability."
Still good, though.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 31 August 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)
"the legendary miss britney spears"
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)
Ian McShane has high enough profile in the US now to introduce Spears album
― blueski, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)
this is tolerable, which is more than i was expecting. i'm interested instead of disgusted when she does her old can't-hit-the-note-so-i'll-moan-at-it thing.
competent, certainly danceable, catchy, but not groundbreaking. CROSS FINGERS that the followup is the "Toxic" of 2007.

― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)
And then you get reports from other people like T-Pain who said that she was nothing but sweet and completely professional to work with. Maybe it's just me but I always get the feeling that Britney is someone people secretly want to see succeed. besides, people are very easily taken by a good dance video/live show, let's hope she can still do that at least. Even if she'll still lipsync her way through it, her fans won't care - the girl never could sing, that's not why people love her. it'll all come down to that rumoured VMAs perf coming up, probably.
― Roz, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)
i don't secretly want her to succeed, i openly want this.
― Surmounter, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)
this song
― Surmounter, Saturday, 1 September 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)
is so
funny
and i love it.
hahahahaha the breathing sample things at the end. i don't know that i expect another toxic kind of thing from her. if she does great but i like this more textural thing she's doing.
― Surmounter, Saturday, 1 September 2007 03:18 (eighteen years ago)
look around the usual haunts, second song "Cold as Fire" is even more Body Language Kylie. It's not quite as good as "Gimme More" though. "Toxic" aside, she doesn't really do the high-pitched thing very well.
― Roz, Saturday, 1 September 2007 06:09 (eighteen years ago)
love it!
on first listen i don't like the chorus a whole lot but LOVE the rest
― Tracer Hand, Saturday, 1 September 2007 14:06 (eighteen years ago)

― Tracer Hand, Saturday, 1 September 2007 14:09 (eighteen years ago)
Hmmmm... Well, this is certainly better than that godawful new Madonna single.
― Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 1 September 2007 15:23 (eighteen years ago)
woooo house music.
― tricky, Saturday, 1 September 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)
ooo remix must check out. listening to Do Somethin now, i love my goofy club britney
― Surmounter, Sunday, 2 September 2007 02:47 (eighteen years ago)
people really LOVEd Toxic. i mean, but notice when she's gettin all high pitched on Toxic it's completly computergasmic. the moany-at-the-notes thing is still there the rest of the song. in any event, i don't have a problem with her moaning, it's fine wit me =)
― Surmounter, Sunday, 2 September 2007 02:49 (eighteen years ago)
the mix is fantastic, couldn't tell until the remix. TI attacks the track like he doesn't know it's someone else's(does he?) -- as it should be
― tremendoid, Sunday, 2 September 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)
danger danger danger danger danger

you go girl word
― luriqua, Sunday, 2 September 2007 06:55 (eighteen years ago)
I cannot understand how can anyone not be blown away by "Gimme More", it sounds massive.
― daavid, Sunday, 2 September 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)
=)
― Surmounter, Sunday, 2 September 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)
"Baby Boy" is a cool song. Surprisingly spooky and affecting ballad (!). Love the distorted music box sounds.
― Turangalila, Monday, 3 September 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)
"I cannot understand how can anyone not be blown away by "Gimme More", it sounds massive."
Did she put more than 15 minutes into recording this? It might be someone else's triumph, but Brit has nothing to do with this. Am I not supposed to mind? Even if that was true on her previous singles as well? I can't do it.
― Joseph McCombs, Monday, 3 September 2007 04:46 (eighteen years ago)
i wonder if this would be the right time for them to resurrect that DFA-produced Britney track that leaked a few years ago - it's still excellent, and would fit right next to "Gimme More".
― Roz, Monday, 3 September 2007 07:30 (eighteen years ago)
Welcome back threads with 500 posters just going 'OMG love this!', we've missed you.
― Matt DC, Monday, 3 September 2007 08:08 (eighteen years ago)
srsly.
oh geez, joseph, i mean it's never the point with any of this kind of music to wonder about who did what - no answers there. it's just a really fucking fun song.
IT'S BRITNEY BITCH
― Surmounter, Monday, 3 September 2007 08:50 (eighteen years ago)
Did she put more than 15 minutes into recording this? It might be someone else's triumph, but Brit has nothing to do with this.
hahahaha Amount of effort now dictates the grebtness of a track. It's POP, dude, ultimately it doesn't matter who/what/why/how it was produced, only the end product.
I'm really feeling the remix.
― nathalie, Monday, 3 September 2007 09:55 (eighteen years ago)
that t.i. verse is not an original for the britney song. it's just some dj mix.
― Jordan Sargent, Monday, 3 September 2007 09:58 (eighteen years ago)
yeah i figured that; i still wish he would rip r&b spots like this though, until they told him to stop
― tremendoid, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:06 (eighteen years ago)
hes pretty nice on that nicole scherzinger song.
― Jordan Sargent, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:25 (eighteen years ago)

This is why we love having you, Matt. Never would have noticed otherwise, what with the *truncated* threads and all. Now I don't need to click "read all messages"! ;-)
― nathalie, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:29 (eighteen years ago)
what aren't you hearing?
― Jordan Sargent, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:29 (eighteen years ago)
this song wouldn't be nearly as good if it didn't go "gimme gimme MWAR gimme MWAAAR"
― Jordan Sargent, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:31 (eighteen years ago)
btw the remix sucks. mixing sounds like a 12 year old trying to be girl talk.
― Jordan Sargent, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:34 (eighteen years ago)
yeah i don't really listen to t.i. but i suspected that was a "fan" remix
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:38 (eighteen years ago)
musical slashfic!
i think i'd be all for danjahandz being the timbaland to britney's nelly f.
― Jordan Sargent, Monday, 3 September 2007 10:43 (eighteen years ago)
OTM
