Rules: 1. You must make up a list of your ten favorite albums and/or singles. 2. None of these entries can have ever been on any of your previous top ten lists ever posted here or elsewhere (honor system). 3. You must be happy and satisfied with the results; if there is a record that you really love that you have to leave off the list, suck it up and remember the whole "if you see the Buddha on the road, kill him" deal. 4. No point deduction if you choose not to play.
Go.

I'm pretty sure I've never put any of these in a list before. When you've spent so much of your life making lists, it's kind of hard to remember. Anyway, my Top 10 songs.

Damn, that was nearly impossible! Nothing recorded after '77 (haha), cause that's around the time I started thinking about top 10 lists and shit. Also, RYM lists shouldn't count.

I hardly ever think about my all-time favorites, it's usually just "recent new favorites," but with this list I'll give it a try and do my best not to just list favorite new stuff. Most of these are albums I've loved for quite a while but have pulled off the shelf in the past 6 months or so and re-discovered how much I really do love them. This ain't really a definitive list, but here goes (and in no particular order):
Sonic Youth, “Schizophrenia” Sonic Youth, Ciccone Youth/Whitey Album Gas, “Nach 1912” John Coltrane, “Seraphic Light” Olivia Tremor Control/Black Swan Network, split EP Merzbow, 1930 Dave Holland Quartet, Conference of the Birds Radiohead, Amnesiac Alice Coltrane, Journey in Satchidananda Augustus Pablo, King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown
I still can't determine whether I'm picking a "desert island" list or a "favorites" list, but whatever.

Abstaining here from listing anything I can recall ever listing as a favorite of any kind, here or elsewhere, and am also leaving off anything that I've mentioned liking in the last few years (so no "Ask the Ages", alas):
Bernard Herrman - "Taxi Driver" soundtrack Vladimir Cosima - "Diva" soundtrack John Carpenter - "Halloween" theme Ron Grainer - "Dr. Who" theme Vangelis - "Blade Runner" soundtrack Can - "More" ("... and More") Neil Hefti - "Batman" theme Climax Golden Twins - "Session 9" soundtrack Agee/Schuman - "A Children's Tale" (from "Night of the Hunter") Henry Mancini - "Peter Gunn" theme

Jesus. You must have listed everything you've ever listened to somewhere else.
― humansuit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:33 (seventeen years ago)
Well, yeah. But I totally love everything on that list.
