nice proto-austin powers song w/ a pre-dreadlocked/pre-"electric avenue" eddy grant vs. nice pseudo hall & oates/philly soul-meets-70s el lay studio earcandy.
plus, both have great youtube videos! the equals vs. player.

no less an expert than alex in nyc agrees with my assessment of player's opus!
is this the same "Baby Come Back" as the Player version? No, No and thrice verily no. I always thought "Baby Come Back" (the Player version) was a dead ringer for Hall & Oates' "She's Gone".

That Equals video is a charmer, but I have to go with Player

I've been rocking the Equals as of late and their BCB is pretty great... but I may have to go with Player on this.

Truth: the riff of "Baby Come Back" by the Equals inspired the riff of "Eighties" by Killing Joke (see also "Life Goes On" by the Damned and "Come As You Are" by Nirvana).

hmm. that didn't work,
The Equals by a country mile. Rude boy!

Player's version is the only one I need, but it's a crime that the song fades so soon into the guitar solo. The guy is just getting warmed up.

Is that harmonized guitar riff an overdub or does he actually play that in double stops? Cause if he does it's fucking impressive.

I'd have to go with Player for one reason: Ron Moss. That guy is hilariously awesome.
