ooh I do see polls when my browser logs me out daily. and then I can't reply to them.
Am missing a lot of those too, but on the face of it, Macho's Not Tonight for being the source of that devastating Claussell extension, but my Salsoul says 212 N 12th always & forever

Hmm ... I know the good majority of these songs, but am not familiar with how they've been re-edited. And I tend to stay away from these Ballroom joints? Am I missing something? Is this the best edit series ever? Or is it just another batch of bootlegs with iffy sound quality?

And WHY do they only include the instrumental vrsn of Sharevari on that 12"?

Donna/Change Position...the only way I've been able to get the Cowley remix of I Feel Love. And that's not Spank on the flipside but but Began Cekic's Sixty Nine/Change Position by Brooklyn Express, totally insane cover version.

The edit of Cocomotion screws something up, I used to play it off the Ballroom 12" for convenience but it never sounded as good as the original record.

And only including instrumentals of Sharevari and Feels Good is really unfortunate. I tend to like vocals anyway, and also miss the vocals on I Need Love and Delirium, though I understand some may not.

Are all of these edits? Some are just boots of the original tracks, right?

The I Feel Love version is gr8 until the guitar solo, which ruins it IMHO.

I think most are edits, and some are bootlegs of older edits.

Classic for the fact that most of them are very useful/tasteful edits, and not just bootlegs of hard to find tracks (like Automan, if i'm not mistaken) or just silly/offensive/useless re-works.

Classic for the fact that most are/were very available and very cheap.

Dud for the fact that most have poor sound quality.

To me, Michael Jackson / Drums Power - P.Y.T / Dance Ritual is the workhorse of the series. On one side, a beloved classic that's very subtly re-touched making it easy to mix in and out of all different kinds of stuff. On the other, a killer mid-tempo percussion workout that is also a great DJ tool.

Full disclosure though - Ive only actually heard about half of these.

Also, wheras Dan tends to gravitate towards vocal versions, I tend to gravitate towards insturmentals. Each his own, I guess.

thanks, gr8080.

I usually pass on these 12"s because they seem to always have one song I love and one song I'm not so into. It's the same problem I have with a lot of these kind of re-issues (like the Space Dust Disco Classics series).

Todd Terje's BeeGee's edit is pretty killer. Still sounds like the original but fucked with in all the right ways.

xp: i'd say these are more killer less filler than space dust, but again, I'm only familiar with a few of those, too.

That Cowley mix of "I Feel Love" is also available on this (and I don't think there's a guitar solo on this version, but I could be wrong):

a great comp too.

I could be remembering something else with a bad guitar solo....

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

the bee gees one is amazing, it's terje's best edit i think (even taking all the supreme stuff into account).

what is the version of 'disco circus' on BRH001 like?

i got my copy of the 'i feel love' cowley mix on this. (wish the other side was the original of 'plastic dreams', that morales mix is kinda horrible.)

I haven't heard Disco Circus, but like, do you really need to re-edit/mix that song? It's pretty much the ultimate as it is, in any version. I don't even have the Kevorkian mix but play it off the original LP. It's perfect!
