i have the snippets that leaked - sounded okay, but pretty boring on the whole. i really liked the early g-unit mixtapes and the first 50 album but it just sounds kinda uninspired. not that bad, but just a bit rote.

titchyschneiderMk2, Saturday, 8 September 2007 11:43 (eighteen years ago)

Lock thread at "Eat lead or die tryin.'" No one will beat that. Mine would be "Some chamber music would a great mood-setter right about now."

HI DERE, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

Kinda feels like 50's biting Hell Rell with the whole ammunition-eating theme.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

I can't wait to see the episode of Ace Of Cakes where they show how they made that gun-shaped cake for 50, though.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

does AiB run w/ the ace of cakes crew?

Davey D, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

i think if people saw the failed early singles as good back-half album cuts (which is what they should have been anyway) i think people would be way less fatalistic about this.

straight to the bank> i get money

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

haha no I don't know any Ace Of Cakes folks. I think I just decided that I want them to do a gun-shaped groom's cake for my wedding, though.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

can you recreate the picture upthread and then post it in this thread?

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)

ok, i'll buy a g-unit hoodie and get ready now.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

no g-unit hoodie no credibility.

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

I can't believe "Amusement Park" is gonna be the single. It's totally magic stick part III. Not to mention I have no idea how you can clean it up for radio!

"gonna be"? the single and video were released 4 months ago, and they quickly realized it wouldn't be a hit and started working other songs. definitely not a future single.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

"I Get Money" is the hottest thing on there. Kudos for Audio Two getting all these props as of late.

Gavin, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

OoOOps. I got the order of the singles mixed up. I knew the four singles but didn't know which order they dropped, since they must have pulled "Amusement Park" muy fast.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

i heard the mary j track is hot
this true?

deej, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, it was basically "Straight To The Bank" -> "Amusement Park"/"Fully Loaded Clip" -> "I Get Money" -> "Ayo Technology" -> "Follow My Lead." He pushed back the album and gave up on "Amusement Park" about a month after it leaked, and I'd honestly expected him to go ahead and make it a hit by sheer will, since it's not really any worse than "Candy Shop." In fact, it's probably my 2nd favorite single from this album after "I Get Money." (xpost)

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

'man down' and 'movin on up' are classic 50

the rest is http://www.soulstrut.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/liljohn.gif

and what, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

i dont remember if i've said this before but i like 'i get money' cuz it sounds so cheap, the video is so cheap, ripping the drums off 'i'ma hustler' is cheap ... its the exact opposite of all the impulses going into amazingly crafted but utterly facile tracks like 'amusement park'

deej, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

And who the hell is Rap Legend Milk Dee?

-- Anthony Miccio (anthonymicci...), March 12th, 2004 1:51 PM.

and what, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

even the idea to sample 'top billin' is not particularly orginal & v. cheap! but so effective

deej, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

I like Lil' Flip's "I Get Money" better. Wish it get played though. All I ever hear on the radio is 50's.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

'man down' and 'movin on up' are classic 50
+ "Fully Loaded Clip" + "I Get Money" and that's about it.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

50's has better rhymes, Flip's has better production.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

two years pass...

hype around the new one. has anyone listened to it?

a goon boy (J0rdan S.), Friday, 30 October 2009 08:05 (sixteen years ago)

yes

i got nothin (deej), Friday, 30 October 2009 08:52 (sixteen years ago)

is it as good as 50 loyalists are saying

a goon boy (J0rdan S.), Friday, 30 October 2009 08:53 (sixteen years ago)

well, he's withdrawn entirely from writing 'ayo technology''s and 'candy shop's so i think it loses the urgency of something trying to be more than 'just' a rap album & gains in that there's nothing as shitty as candy shop or w/e

i think whats unique about it is that it has a lot of weird beats & he raps his ass off on some of them.

i got nothin (deej), Friday, 30 October 2009 09:14 (sixteen years ago)

yeah the beats are pretty good. imo what draws me to 50 are his huge choruses like "in da club" and "what up gangsta"; he aims for a similar target here i think but most of the hooks are second-rate. it's pretty uniformly listenable and enjoyable though, no bad tracks that i can remember and "psycho" is a dizzying flurry of awesomeness, probably 50's best verse and em kills it too, his 3rd (by my count anyway) octomom reference of 09 notwithstanding

k3vin k., Friday, 30 October 2009 15:52 (sixteen years ago)

i thought for sure "crime wave" was an alc beat before i looked it up, shit is hot

early thoughts- the organ on Then Days Went By is easy on the ears.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Friday, 30 October 2009 19:36 (sixteen years ago)

this is really good imo. 'strong enough' is great. annoyed 'baby by me' made it instead of 'flight 187' though.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Friday, 30 October 2009 20:03 (sixteen years ago)

Ok You're Right is fucking epic.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Friday, 30 October 2009 20:23 (sixteen years ago)

really? when it was released as a single a few months ago i could barely get through it more than a couple times and can't remember how it goes now.

they were wein, so she drowned (some dude), Friday, 30 October 2009 20:32 (sixteen years ago)

i really, really like the beat.

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Friday, 30 October 2009 20:50 (sixteen years ago)

i think the 2nd half of the album is a lot more interesting than the 1st - 1st half is too aggro for fiddy, content is em style from 7 yrs ago
