Anyone done any business with them? Are they pretty reliable? They've got a great selection at awesome prices.
While on the topic, are there any similar sites to this with similarly-priced selections? Basically anything with (new or old) garage/r&b/doo wop type vinyls?

I've bought stuff from Crypt in Europe before and didn't have any problems.

Tim Warren who owns Crypt (and whom I presume still runs it though I've not spoken with him in 20 years) is quite literally one of the finest people working in the music business.
He didn't just whack those comps together from his own record collection you know. He tried in the most ethical possible manner, to track down every person involved with every track in order that he get them their royalties. I am sure he really enjoyed doing it and that was how he was able to get all the cool photos and original promo material that the crypt releases are chock full of, so it was win/win.
But I would trust them enough to order a record, sure.
Also, might try www.freakemporium.com for loads of cool stuff.

Is anyone distributing Crypt's stuff in the US now that they're gone?

They're gone? European website is still there.
― Soukesian, Sunday, 5 April 2009 09:03 (sixteen years ago)
They're gone in the US and it's too expensive to order from overseas.
― Reatards Unite, Sunday, 5 April 2009 13:30 (sixteen years ago)
They never had a store that I know of...
In the US, I imagine Rockit Scientist in NY at least tries to keep the prices reasonable (on the CDs). Also, would think that at least as of a few years ago, you could get the stuff from Midnight (though that is no kind of personal endorsement). If you're in NY, you could try Subterranean for a bit of luck on the vinyl.

crypt had a store in brooklyn. at least, so their website used to say.

Crypt store in Brooklyn is closed. What is it you're looking for ReatardsUnite? Norton may have it--Billy from Norton & Tim from Crypt are bffs, and at least a lot of the Crypt catalog is in the giant Norton paper catalogs.
Also, Saxby OTM re: Tim. He's a totally whacky but great, nice, good spirited guy.

anyone know where to find that "God Less America" comp of weird old country? I saw it once in a store - didn't pick it up and have been kicking myself since.
― Brio, Monday, 6 April 2009 14:02 (sixteen years ago)
Woah, just looked around a bit - found it's $75 and up used on amazon!
― Brio, Monday, 6 April 2009 14:07 (sixteen years ago)
would love to give crypt some moola - beguiled - blue dirge and the talkin' trash series are up there with most spun platters! ... but that god less country comp is out there with a google search string of "god less country" rar download ... just sayin'

hey, crypt did those awesome "sin alley" comps of crude early rock, right? another feather in their cap.
