Loads of songs in every genre extolling the joys of crime, robbin' and killin' and leaving the restaurant without paying, etc. But what about songs from the victim's perspective? You'd think with all that adolescent self-pity floating around in the rock bloodstream there would be more?

Only ones I can think of at the moment - "Kindness of Strangers" (Nick Cave), "Gimme Your Money Please" (BTO), "Alive on Arrival" (Ice Cube)

Down in the tube station at midnight - somebody asked a question recently based round this re. 'getting mugged' songs, and got a few replies. Also "The Boiler".

"Me And A Gun" by Tori Amos springs instantly to mind. "Live To Tell" by the Arsonists if you want the hipping and-a hopping as well.

Not only does he have his girl nicked, he gets shot too.

rock music based on premise of individual oppressed by society/circumstance. so victim isn't a victim of specifics, but generalities?

I'm thinking more of songs that deal with the helplessness, rage, resignation (bad luck, whatever), self-blame, feeling of being betrayed etc. that is specific to being the target of a specific criminal act by an identifiable individual. (In case you're wondering - every time I've been involuntarily relieved of valuables I've usually been so intoxicated that PTSD or whatever never came into it, except for when I was defrauded of $600 CDN by a conman I should've smelled from miles away - ah well, experience eh?)

ODB -- "Got Your Money": "Girl you know I'm gonna take care of you/cos you say you got my baby and I know it ain't true".

Some indie song called "bicycle thief" or something.
