ok so ill start with the admission that im a follower not a leader musically, and that in this case i am following Skream ,who did a great set on rinse recently where he just played early 80s soul funk and disco. every tune, albethey well worn, was a banger pretty much. so what do i neeed to look for to follow these sort of tunes?
patrice rushen - forget me nots mary jane girls - all night long george benson - give me the night gwen mcrae - keep the fire burning/all this love that im giving ....
any more tunes in that vein would be appreciated. theres a thread of just... well, funk (with a lower case "f") that links these, even if they predate the electonic sounds in disco they retain a similar feel, very punch basslines moving away from the lushness/symphonic stuff.

A few of the tracks Skream played are on the Dimitri from Paris / Joey Negro 'Kings of Disco' 2CD comp, which is easy to find. I like it a lot but I'm no expert.
