The title track all the way for me. And this may be one of those cases of a non-single winning the poll although I guess the lurkers will go for "TV15" or "Golden Years".

Geir Hongro, Monday, 17 September 2007 10:54 (eighteen years ago)

I would just like to rep the poll below for alerting me to the true majesty of the title track:
Best Bit of Station to Station

ledge, Monday, 17 September 2007 10:58 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, that's the original 1976 cover.

Mark G, Monday, 17 September 2007 11:14 (eighteen years ago)

If "Wild is the wind" isn't his best ever, it's certainly his best ever cover version. So, I vote.

Mark G, Monday, 17 September 2007 11:15 (eighteen years ago)

4-way tie between tracks 1, 2, 4 & 5 really. Voted for "TVC 15"--just because. And darn those pesky lurkers, Geir!

JN$OT, Monday, 17 September 2007 12:08 (eighteen years ago)

title track, easy

stephen, Monday, 17 September 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

Surely the title track will cream everything else? It's probably the best thing Bowie has ever done. Rest of the album is great too of course (I find TVC15 a little weak though). Wild Is The Wind easily the best cover he's ever done. Hmmm, I think this is my all-time favourite Bowie album.

Zelda Zonk, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

When it came out I was all "SIX SONGS??? Easy life!"

Mark G, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

actually i think i prefer the orig b+w cover to the rebranded colour version.
for me its the title track again for this classic.
though its a touch choice as i love it all.

mark e, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, only six songs - nonetheless no shorter than your average 70s Bowie album I think. One of the great things about it is how those songs are kind of stretched out to breaking point, it kind of adds to the weird tension of the whole thing...

Zelda Zonk, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:41 (eighteen years ago)

Toughie, but I'll take the title track

Alex in NYC, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

The title track. Though this is an amazing album, not a tough decision.

Davey D, Monday, 17 September 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

"Station To Station", but "Wild Is The Wind" is great too.

Euler, Monday, 17 September 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

Let me be the one to rep for "Word On a Wing," which is pure, heartbroken camp that's tremendously moving, in part because you sense that Bowie's about to collapse with laughter. A much better performance than WITW, which might be a keeper if Bowie didn't sing on it.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 17 September 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

my favorite bowie album

title track gets my vote, though on a different day it could be "wild is the wind"

ciderpress, Monday, 17 September 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

"Stay", because of the two note guitar solo and the line "you can never really tell when somebody wants something you want to".

snoball, Monday, 17 September 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

Is it true that OH MY TVC-15 is about a vibrator?

Abbott, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

"TVC-15" is about his TVC-15.

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 12:38 (eighteen years ago)

Torn between title track and Wild Is The Wind.

Alba, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 13:35 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 21 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

TVC-15 -- I love the title track, but ever since I saw him do it live in 1990 w/ Belew reprising his Stage role, the studio version's always paled in comparison...

Naive Teen Idol, Friday, 21 September 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

Another vote for "Word on a Wing" here, though I don't see it as quite that camp- it's legitimately affecting for me, though that may be because of memories associated with it as much as the actual song.

Telephone thing, Friday, 21 September 2007 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

At first I was stimied—I love TVC-15, but recognize that I always remember it as better than it actually is (mostly, I think, because it ends better than it starts). But then I recognized that, hey, that memory of it is good enough. Best song. Sure. Why not?

I eat cannibals, Friday, 21 September 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

is this the album that bowie doesn't remember making?

gman, Saturday, 22 September 2007 01:17 (eighteen years ago)

iago g., Saturday, 22 September 2007 01:26 (eighteen years ago)

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 22 September 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

No, it's STS.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 22 September 2007 02:04 (eighteen years ago)

The joy of this is the faux-soul of Young Americans dragged thru mis-prog tho.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 22 September 2007 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

I say this cos I'm convinced by yr "when he tries to sing he sounds awful" argumint Alfred.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 22 September 2007 02:08 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 22 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

That is some walkover. I think I voted for Wild Is The Wind in the end.

Alba, Saturday, 22 September 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

i thought i voted for wild is the wind but i'm pretty sure at least 2 other people did upthread (??)

ciderpress, Sunday, 23 September 2007 00:03 (eighteen years ago)

pisces, Sunday, 23 September 2007 00:57 (eighteen years ago)

i think a lot of people consider it the 2nd best actually

but that doesn't help in this poll

ciderpress, Sunday, 23 September 2007 01:08 (eighteen years ago)

Wild is so my #2 choice

iago g., Sunday, 23 September 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)
