OK, here's SOMETHING FOR THE GIRL WITH EVERYTHING for you to poll against!

Weirdly enough, this is an issue I have pondered before.

There's an awesome level in this of something I can't find a name for beyond, like, "ironic condescension" -- the "don't try to talk" and "nobody's gonna hear a word" bits wind up making you feel worst for the girl involved, I think.

There are subjects within a lot of those first two island LPs that never got revisited by anyone else, ever.

That kind of casual condescension or misogyny for comic effect is pretty typical of a lot of Sparks songs though. Not just in those two albums either. You know, this kind of stuff:

It's the way the "Wow" is intoned that really makes this one for me. Makes young Mael sound like a bit of a sarcastic valley girl, really. Great stuff.

In addition to every line voted for above, I can't choose between imported gimmicks, ornithologist, Sinatra... it's all magnificently brilliant wordplay.
