Nope, and it's not the Ron Wilson from The Surfaris either. Rather, a couple of mellow country/soul-inflected recordings by an otherwise-unknown (and unrecorded?) singer; As Tears Go By is the Stones number, of course.

I found the Glen Campbell version kinda disappointing, actually. I have a weakness for the Louis Philippe version.

But it's a beautifully-written song, and it seems weird that it wasn't included on "Pet Sounds", where it would have fit right in (in fact, if it had been used on that record, it would easily have been one of the top 3 on there)

I've always loved Glen's version since hearing it on an old Beach Boys website in the early days of the web. Pet Projects made me happy because I never could get it prior to that.

Anyone care to do a POX of Brian solo? Like is there anything else close to "Lay Down Burden" or "Love and Mercy"?

hmmm I don't know Lay Down Burden... gotta say most of his post-first solo album work has not really appealed to me. Rio Grande is pretty amazing.

I liked most of That Lucky Old Sun but I'm a big Beach Boys fanboy. That's just about the only non-"Love and Mercy" BW solo that even I can stand though.
