it can't be long before he's drawing up his list of innovative new collaborators and starts thinking 'hey, that chris martin's a pretty hip cat.'

Yeah, I saw that myself. He selects Coldplay = he is insane.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 23 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And he's touring the US this summer with Moby. Apparently the two are "close personal friends" (???)

geeta, Tuesday, 23 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But Suede, Ned! Suede!

But he's ALWAYS done this. In the late 70s the nme gossip column had a long-running bowie gag: "I love [xx], they're brilliant I have all their albums. Sorry, who are we talking about again?" Yes sometimes it was neu! or wire, but SOMETIMES IT WASN'T!!

TELEVISION? Oh DAMN. Also, Gorillaz + singer from the Specials = either awesome or trainwreck.

Nate Patrin, Tuesday, 23 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But Suede, Ned! Suede!

Oh, it forgives many sins. But not all.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 23 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Television tix booked. Bowie tix sold out in three hours.

He selects Coldplay = he is insane.
I dunno if I should say "see drugs are bad for ya" or "he should start taking drugs again"

To be fair to all musician-cum-festival-curators, how often do they successfully book acts only because they like the band and want to give them a shot at the pedestal? It's entirely possible Bowie did not proclaim "Ah yes, Coldplay! A FINE FINE BAND! Revolutionary! Let's give them a date, yes? Chop Chop!". There must be at least some pressure to book bands that might, yes, make some of the money back.

And there's only, what, 765,111 slots for the festival? Are there even that many known bands in the world today that all happen to be available to fly out that week?

What the fuck is "Gorillaz' Space Monkeyz Dub Session with Terry Hall" ?? Sounds interesting ..

"he's just a stereotype .. "

I have heard very bad things about the current Television gigs. Didn't you people hear that last album? They're like 10 years older than THAT now!

Kris, Wednesday, 24 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bah - I saw TV at ATP last year and they were terrific - and that 3rd alb is gd too!

Andrew L, Wednesday, 24 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What the fuck is "Gorillaz' Space Monkeyz Dub Session with Terry Hall"??

that just sounds SCARY. and I admit it, I've seen Blurillaz live, and they're not the greatest live act...

geeta, Wednesday, 24 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I saw Television in London this time last year. Half great, half uninspired noodling. I probably won't be going to see them again after the way they screwed up the ending of Marquee Moon.

may go to the lonesome organist. may go to suede. but i'm not a fan of these RFH type gigs, i don't like these venues
