Sean Price ups D-Ceps a lot and it got me thinking, they never really got as much publicity as Bloods & Crips & the west coast gang thing...who else is part of D-Ceps?
I think I remember Onyx being related to D-Cep? Any others?

Cee-Lo's Microhard is all about Transformers, though I think it's one of the two guest rappers and not Cee-Lo who namechecks Decepticons.

Aren't Infesticons supposed to be like the Autobots to the Majesticons' Decepticons?

*sigh*

Also, I always thought the Decepticons were kinda stupid in choosing their name, because it'll automatically give their game away even to the unsuspecting. It's like marrying a guy named James Cheater.

thx tuomas but this thread was supposed to be about the real gang not the cartoon.

The Deceptikonz are a New Zealand hip hop group formed in 1996 and consists of Savage, Devolo, Alphrisk and Mareko and who formed in 1996 in the South Auckland suburb of Manurewa.
Before joining the Deceptikonz, Mareko worked in a computer repair store reattaching keys to Dell laptops. He was fired after looking at the contents of a customer's harddrive. But luck was on his side when he was interested in some of the downloaded hip hop samples and he got in touch with the customer, Alphrisk.Although this is merely a rumour, it is held by many to be true.

From 1988 to 1989, a violent gang which started at Brooklyn Technical High School had started terrorizing New York City high school students. Suspected in many robberies and group attacks using boxcutters, rocks, and especially hammers, the gang called themselves the Decepticons – after the group of bad guys in the Transformers cartoon series. In 1988 alone, Decepticons gang members were arrested in connection with 43 robberies throughout the city.
The gang had 56 members, at that time the largest gang in New York City, and they would operate only during the week. They would go to school together, and during lunch or after classes, they would target other kids that looked defenseless or afraid. The typical attack of the Decepticons was to surround the target with 12 or so gangmembers and to rob them of their money, electronics, sneakers, jewelry, or anything else they desired.
Unlike today’s gangs, the Decepticons could not be identified by clothing of a particular color, or having a certain tattoo. They would blend into the crowd of other students, making them very hard to distinguish. This added to the most interesting aspect of the gang, which was the large amount of fear that they instilled in the city. Many schools all over the city were filled with talk that the Decepticons were going to invade, or cause trouble. When this talk came about, parents kept their children home from school, just in case. Many students talked about the gang coming to their school, but few had actually seen or known any Decepticons personally.
Only Brooklyn Tech would give birth to a gang named after the bad guys in a cartoon about robots!

I did read the first post, but I thought it was a tongue-in-cheek way of asking about Transformers references in rap.

Excuse me for not knowing every gang name in the US, escpecially if it's a gang named after the bloody Transformers.
