Probably ILM's favourite, PSB album, which makes it great for a poll.

My vote for "I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing", which IMO sounds better on Very than on the single version.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 08:33 (eighteen years ago)

The Truck Driver and his mate!

Mark G, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 08:36 (eighteen years ago)

Btw I hope you forgive me for leaving out the postscript. :)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

I'm voting with Geir on this one. I'm still pissed that I missed out on the "Behaviour" poll, although my vote for "So Hard" wouldn't have beaten out the "Being Boring" juggernaut.

Davey D, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 08:41 (eighteen years ago)

There are three completely sublime songs on this album and I'm having a hard time picking between them.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

VERY VERY easy: "Dreaming of the Queen"

Worst is either "One and One Make Five" or "One in a Million" (they just didn't do "one" numbers as well as the others).

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

"Young Offender" never fails to make me tear up.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

"Liberation"

wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

Worst is either "One and One Make Five"

This is completely utterly wrong.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

Don't really rate this much. The first 3 albums are the best, their last really great single was probably "Being Boring".

So then I take it that "One and One Make Five" is one of three completely sublime songs" on the album (so many numbers with the Boys!)?

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

Let's hope that "Dreaming of the Queen" is one of them.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

Slave of the pop charts, are we? ;)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

I think the charts got it right this time.

max r, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

Also I think after house music really took off commercially in the early 90s they sounded a bit obselete, even when they tried to catch up.

max r, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

Pet Shop Boys did the same thing then that Saint Etienne and Dubstar did (and Ganway in Denmark): Combined elements from house and techno with actual tunes.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

Oh right, that's what they did. Thanks.

Dr.C, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 13:50 (eighteen years ago)

And the songs landed on the dance floor like lead balloons.

Eric H., Wednesday, 26 September 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

Not he dancefloors I was on in 1993. Plus many of the song were remixed anyway.

Kevin John Bozelka, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah! The remix of "I Wouldn't Normally Do..." sounded GREAT then.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 14:20 (eighteen years ago)

it still does.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Yay, my vote counted even though I don't like this album!

Eric H., Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

... meaning "Can You Forgive Her" is one of those few songs that makes me realize why it's occasionally important to listen to lyrics.

Eric H., Saturday, 29 September 2007 23:28 (eighteen years ago)

My runnerup choice just beat my pick, I can see.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 30 September 2007 01:38 (eighteen years ago)

no votes for "the theatre"? thats my second favourite after "i wouldnt normally do this kind of thing".
