I rank this as one of the worst songs you'll hear in a day of classic rock radio programming.

Any defenders?

You're insane.

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

I hope a dove shits on you.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

Who, baby, who?

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

NOT to find the answer
JUST to hear the call
of a night-birrrrrrrd
singin'
COME AWAY
COME AWAY!!!
COME AWAY!!!
COME AWAY!!!

Jon Lewis, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

eventhough the rhythm track bites The Police's "Bring On The Night"

Yes, it sucks.

Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 01:39 (eighteen years ago)

Alex was never seventeen.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

There were no white winged doves flittering about when I was seventeen, I can tell you that.

Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 01:44 (eighteen years ago)

hearing this on KMET at 4:30-ish in the morning during the tail-end of a weekend acid trip when I was 16 confirmed it: this song fucking rules

J0hn D., Wednesday, 26 September 2007 01:57 (eighteen years ago)

This song is indescribably feral. It may be the toughest AOR ever written and sung by a white woman. Go ahead and talk about your Kate Bush, but Nicks sounds truly unhinged here, largely because she's relying on poodle-headed El Lay sessioneers like Wascally Watchell to play on music they probably didn't understand yet still transformed anyway.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 02:06 (eighteen years ago)

Classic.

Mark Rich@rdson, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 02:29 (eighteen years ago)

wow. grady, you just blew my mind.

jaxon, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 02:42 (eighteen years ago)

thx for the youtube link!

this song needs a studio remake.

when i was a kid i thought she was singing "i'm a few years older than you...madlock" in reference to four-time nl batting champion bill madlock.

classic either way, tho

mookieproof, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 02:54 (eighteen years ago)

i tried to do this at karaoke recently and barely made it out alive

regardless (or maybe because of that fact): classic for all time 4eva and eva

impudent harlot, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 04:53 (eighteen years ago)

Totally agree about the astonishing contrast between the out-of-control vocal performance and the too-smooth backing -- but unfortunately, the slick kinda wins the song in the end and I ultimately must join the "it sucks" camp. Cocaine's a hell of a drug.

Nubbelverbrennung, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 07:36 (eighteen years ago)

Genius! She eats Kate Bush alive and spits her back up completely undigested. Why hasn't Courtney Love done this one yet?

JN$OT, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 07:52 (eighteen years ago)

she kinda appropriated some of the lyrics, does that count?

electricsound, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 08:00 (eighteen years ago)

nobody's gonna mention how destiny's child sampled the genius guitar bit?

fritz, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

and included her in the video!

impudent harlot, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 14:42 (eighteen years ago)

is the 'come away come away' bit lindsey or a lindsey impersonator?
