every post after the first is very original.

it is a good album. there's no "fuck forever" on it, but, it's still catchy and consistent and solid, without a great, sweeping single.

Reeeeally good album. He's finally making stuff as good as what he made in the early Libertines days. That first Babyshambles record was brutal.

And, despite ripping off The Kinks for the first single ("Delivery") it's a pretty good single, I think.

Some really great lyrics on this record too, but I'm not going to quote any.

I've never actually listened to Babyshambles outside of a song or two, and I think I only had the Libertines album when Pete Doherty was still in the band. What's a good starting point for listening, the first Babyshambles album or this one?

andi, did it ever occur to you that they really don't give much of a care either way about the lead singer and the fact that by posting one comment anyone can make you instantly flip your shit is the entertainment here? I think it has a lot more to do with your reaction than with Pete Doherty.

ANYBODY HATING ON BABYSHAMBLES HAS OBVIOUSLY NEVAR REALLY LISTENED TO TLCS CRAZY SEXY COOL. DUMMIES.

My frequently cracked out, occasionally incarcerated cousin was a big fan of Waterfalls (from Crazy Sexy Cool). He got stabbed in the lung.

The annoying thing is that about 60% of this record is really good, but threads like this discourage me from trying to explain why (and I'm not a big Pete fan). So it becomes another dead letter thread. And yes, this is thanks to one-liners that sound like they're terribly meta-clever and knowingly cutting, but are ultimately a touch joyless and immature. Call it the Dom Passantino syndrome.

i listened to the song "delivery" it sounds fine. like the 101ers, or some dudes that love the kinks, no crime in that...

but you know i saw some band from sheffield called the hipshakes that no one likes that kind of sound like the oblivions that were just as good as this probably better live, damn those dudes threw down hard....but this isn't bad, it's just weird that this band got so much hype.

pete doherty has made better music since libertines than carl barat has, but they were both still better together than with their new bands (and better still without mick jones producing)

the best of does exist, amazingly. i dont know why they dont put out an album of rarities or unreleased stuff, or even some live tracks. this is basically just the first album more or less with a bit of the 2nd one and dont look back in the sun.

I listened to a portion of this record in passing at a friend's house and in my mind there was no way this is that bad ! Pete Doherty antics aside, is this record really as teriible as this review makes it sound? Did I miss something ?

The live show ends with a karaoke singalong to "Fuck Forever" with a bouncing ball on the lyrics, and the bouncing ball is the union jack. And the only place I've ever seen circular representations of the Union Jack before are on the badges of BNP candidates. Just sayin'

I was (I think) one of the first people to review the Libertines in print. They had a union jack on the bass drum (I dunno if they always did, that was the only time I saw them) and I wrote something to the effect of "wtf is that about, it looks stupid" which got taken out, presumably for not being partisan enough

What's weird is that they wave the Union Jack around, but it's about ENGLISHNESS not BRITISHNESS. Doherty's the Henman Hill of rock.
