Inspired by reading the excellent interview with Mark Iration in the 1st issue of Woofah the Bug's Iration Steppas epiphany in the Wire. Other the than tracks on the Macro Dub Infection albums I haven't heard much of this stuff (well that's not true I've heard teh Rootsman Razor X stuff and some other 00's tracks by him as well.) General consensus is that this stuff is rather dry on disc and that much like Shaka himself that it's relentless sameness tends to result in dimishing returns, but I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations/advice anyway.
I had no idea that Mark Iration was responsible for the awesome Ital Rocker's bleep'n'bass stuff! "Ital Anthem" is one of my fav tracks on that Warp Influences comp.

Anyone got any recommendations for new futuristic dub that isn't necessarily dubstep? I've been really digging:

the one i am really looking forward to is the adrian sherwood/the bug collaboration album thats in the pipeline ..
there is the new roots manuva/wrongtom dub album, duppy writer, on the racks at the moment,
http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/richmedia/images/cover.gif
but i dont think you could say that the rhythms that wrongtom has dropped behind roots are what you'd class as futuristic.

I need to get over to the West Indian Centre again soon Iration Steppas are always so good. I've not heard anything like it anywhere else, their soundsystem is insane too.

Great cover - reminds me of Scientist!

i missed iration steppas at carnival this year. channel one killed it though and played some amazing digi stuff. i kinda like how at soundsystems you can't really get to the dj and trainspot so you hear all this great stuff you may never hear again

posting this here, as it's the only thread with his name in the title. RIP jah shaka
It’s a sad day today, as we say farewell to my friend Knocky, the Zulu warrior, Jah Shaka. Shaka played a huge part in the establishing of AriwA In the very early days he would book the studio weekly, and shared building in Peckham, with Jah Shaka Music operating from the HQ pic.twitter.com/b7GOQRYV1A— Mad Professor (@MadProfessordub) April 12, 2023

has been a lot of love on my various social media channels, but yeah, i know the name, i have never heard this guys stuff.did he release his own material, or was he primarily a dj/soundsystem ? have checked my collection, and nothing i have has his name on it as far have been able to tell so far.also, i have never done reggae vinyl, so that could be a factor ?

yeah he put out loads of stuff on vinyl on his own record label (which also put out stuff by max romeo, horace andy, bim sherman etc). i won't even pretend i have a proper handle on it but there's some good tunes out there:

i checked out discogs.clearly i need a good cd comp/boxset.but as always, label chaos will probably prevent such an outcome.

i bought a lot of releases on his label between 88 - 91 but haven't listened to them in a long time. Must revisit them.
Of those i recall, this one was a big favorite -

I bought Holy Tongue's Deliverance and Spiritual Warfare and the three EPs which preceded it — just called I, II and III — on a Twitter recommendation from Kevin Martin. It's sort of industrial dub techno, like a cross between Mark Stewart's On-U Sound stuff, SAULT, and some of Muslimgauze's danciest material.

Yes! Holy Tongue rule. i've yet to hear the album but I, II and III are essential.
