Skindred had a touring schedule that reads like a "who is who" of rock Korn, Him, Warped Tour, Papa Roach, Lost Prophets, Sevendust, Reel Big Fish just to name a few.

"It's Been Awhile" is the lead single off the album Break the Cycle by the alternative metal band Staind.

The song is probably the band's most well-known song, becoming a Top 40 Hit (#5) on the Billboard Hot 100. The song spent a second-best 20 weeks at #1 on the Mainstream Rock Chart (behind only "Loser" by 3 Doors Down) and a record 16 weeks on the Modern Rock Chart (tied with "Scar Tissue" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day).

The song is about singer Aaron Lewis's life and about how it's been a while since he's done a lot of things. He makes references to his previous drug addiction problem and failed relationships with several women. He mentions his father however he believes he only has himself to be blamed for his problems.

Tod Rex Salvador (born June 29, 1965), better known as Tripp Eisen and previously Tripp Rex Eisen, is a musician, best known as the former guitarist of the industrial metal band Static-X. He is also a former member of Dope Murderdolls and Ego 69.

Eisen, unlike many popular musicians, holds and is vocal about his highly conservative libertarian views, which shocked and appalled some members of his more liberal Democrat fanbase, yet made great conversation with centerist and conservative fans. He is also known to be an avid fan of author Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, Anthem), and was the only member of Static-X to regularly post on the band's internet forums.

While a member of Static-X, Eisen was arrested on February 10, 2005 on a felony "crimes against children" charge in Orange County, California for having sexual intercourse with an underage girl. He was released on bail after only a few hours in custody. Just two weeks later, on February 24, 2005, Eisen was arrested again in California by New Jersey detectives for the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl from Sayreville, New Jersey. New Jersey State Police alleged that Eisen posed as his own impersonator on the Internet and lured the girl starting in October 2004 and culminating with consentual sex on January 7, 2005.[1]

Upon hearing of the arrests, Static-X fired Eisen and replaced him with the original guitarist Koichi Fukuda (whom Eisen had replaced after Fukuda left the band in 2001). When Wayne was asked about Tripp's firing he said:

“ I knew immediately that we were going to kick him out of the band. We had to do that. ”

On June 24, 2005, Eisen pleaded guilty to the California charges of unlawful sexual intercourse and was sentenced to a year in state prison. After spending late February to late September 2005 in California prison, Eisen was released and due for an October 7, 2005 arraignment in New Jersey on the February 24 charges.

super-intense nu-metal dood is like a 1997-era rip van winkle, put into stasis after a korn concert or something.

One - Nothing wrong with me
Two - Nothing wrong with me
Three - Nothing wrong with me
Four - Nothing wrong with me
One - Something's got to give
Two - Something's got to give
Three - Something's got to give
Now
Let the bodies hit the floor
Push me again
This is the end
Skin against skin blood and bone
You're all by yourself but you're not alone
You wanted in now you're here
Driven by hate consumed by fear
Let the bodies hit the floor

POP FACT #1: Staind were originally called Stain'd, pronounced in the Shakespearian style, but the apostrophe was omitted by accident in a press release and has stayed that way since.

POP FACT #2: the original lead singer in Staind was Gary Powers, more famous as the pilot involved in the U-2 spy plane incident. Aaron Lewis, originally on the zither, took over lead vocals following Powers' death on August 1, 1977.

Can we agree to leave Deftones out of the whole nu-metal thing?

brightscreamer, Friday, 23 January 2009 17:17 (sixteen years ago)

no. Just because they were good does not stop much of their output being rote nu-metal.
