Summery songs

Here's the catch: they're not allowed to have the words 'summer' or 'sun' in the lyrics.

Robert Forster said radio stations would only play 'Streets of your Town' on sunny days.

Suggestions?

The whole of SFA mwng. I can't tell you whether any of the songs have 'sun' or 'summer' in the words. 'Most beautiful widow in town' by Sparklehorse has a really sad undercurrent that always reminds me that (alas like many things) summer never lasts forever, although you wish with all your heart it would.

The Lemonheads - "Its a Shame about Ray" and "Come on Feel the Lemonheads" - those two albums are superb summer music. Melodic, laid- back, undemanding. Specific tracks - "Being Around", "Confetti" and "Rockin' Stroll". The Fanclub and Suede are always good in Summer aswell - "Neil Jung" and "Down" are good ones. Also, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - "Sweeter than the Freshness in Water". The Pixies have a good surfin' vibe - so "Oh My Golly" and "Tony's Theme" are good summer fare. The Beta Band's "Three EP's" is quite laid-back and summery - "I Know" and "Dry the Rain" have nice slack, mellow grooves.

Son of Sam is banned on the grounds that it has son in the title.

Jonathan Richman's "That Summer Feeling" is a great summer song (both musically and lyrically). Another fave is the entire 1986 album "Born Sandy Devotional" by the Triffids. God bless the beautiful soul of the late great David McComb.
