So, I'm Really The Last Person On Earth To Know How Cool Rare Earth's Ecology Album Is?

Everybody knew this already and didn't tell me, right? Why would you want to hide this from me? I think it's a little cruel. This is the kind of stuff that I live for. Funky acid space dub jams? Hello? Thanks, Jaxon. Thanks, Stormy. Thanks, Chuck. I've only seen this album around my whole life. It's just that almost every used copy I ever see is beat to hell, so I never end up buying one. Well, this copy came in the big stack I bought a couple weeks ago and it's in nice shape. Those GUITARS!!! PHAT! I've always considered myself a Rare Earth fan, but this is the best album ever. God, "(I Know) I'm Losing You", how cool is that. 11 minutes of dub/echo chamber vocals and hot percussion and fuzz. Beats the Chambers Brothers at their own game. And then some.

yeah, i knew that, but this album is, like, the shit X 10000000000000! it's an acid guitar buffet. guitars every which way. guitars coming out of the flower pots and out of every nook and cranny. lovelovelove this thing.

Love Side One, not crazy about the "Eleanor Rigby" cover, but that's typical of me.

the rigby cover is the weakest thing on it, but that's okay. side two has the completely awesome one two punch of "satisfaction guaranteed" and "nice place to visit". HEAVY shit. i think they took a look at their labelmates and said: "Toe Fat?? Fuck a Toe Fat! We're Rare Motherfucking Earth!"

honestly, this is the way i always wanted a rare earth album to sound. and the 3 or 4 that i've heard or owned never did it for me like this album does.

I'd say the same of the three I've owned

i wonder if it was motown session guys playing on this or rare earth themselves? either way, it's grate.

I really like some of their later tracks like "Big John" and "Earth" -- I can sort of half remember seeing them on Midnight Special or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert w/Redbone but I don't trust my mind anymore.

"Earth" = "Ma"
