The reissues are happening... You can now buy Anarchy in the UK on the EMI label in shops, for the first time since November 1976...

.. and this has hit the charts with a bullet not shot from a gun (No 70, two places above "Rehab" and three below "Chasing Cars".

So, this week it's supposed to happen. The downloads! The facsimile 7" version (about three times thicker vinyl though).

That number 23 spot is awaiting. Or is it? Guess away!

No 70, two places above "Rehab" and three below "Chasing Cars"

jesus, songs really take forever to die over there, don't they? even America is good and over those songs and I'm sure we got them much later than you.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

The only ILX campaign I'd ever support is one to get "The First Cut Is The Deepest" to #1 instead.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:09 (seventeen years ago)

jesus, songs really take forever to die over there, don't they?

this is the most noticeable change to the charts since download rules came in. quite different to ten or even five years ago.

blueski, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:13 (seventeen years ago)

The song isn't particularly good, but remembering the recent Elvis reissues going #1, I'm not too surprised if this one goes all the way too.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:15 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, the Sex Pistols memorabilia market is easily the equal of the Elvis one.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:15 (seventeen years ago)

I mean, seriously, if I see ANOTHER fucking Steve Jones impersonator on Stars In Their Eyes, I'm gonna flip.

Silly me.

Groke, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:19 (seventeen years ago)

Hahahaha, if it gets outsold by Samanda's cover of "Barbie Girl", I have renewed faith in the British public.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:20 (seventeen years ago)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7037353.stm

There.

Groke, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:21 (seventeen years ago)

Hmm, it seems SamandaPlants single is selling less than the SP's.

However, the Saturday shoppers would most likely boost it.

I'm trying to persuade Amber and Alice that they really don't need Barbie Girl. I did get them "About you now" which I'm sure they like better anyway.

Mark G, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:36 (seventeen years ago)

oh for fuck's sake.

that's my considered, incisive comment on the entire affair.

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:44 (seventeen years ago)

Pistols at #30 sends out a nice "this is how influential you really are, now fuck off!" message to the NME.

onimo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:47 (seventeen years ago)

John L's one was "um, ta, bless you, but I'm really not interested"

Mark G, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:52 (seventeen years ago)

OT fuckin' M, JL.

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 13:53 (seventeen years ago)

pisces, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 14 October 2007 11:57 (seventeen years ago)

The Vapors

PhilK, Sunday, 14 October 2007 12:03 (seventeen years ago)

The Only Ones.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 14 October 2007 12:03 (seventeen years ago)

I thought about The Vapors. I keep meaning to listen to their first album, I bet it's really good.

Only Ones too sludgy and dirty bar the famous song, surely?

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 14 October 2007 12:04 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, but it's like Aztec Camera, they make so much mileage out of one Mondeo song good will carries them the rest of the way.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 14 October 2007 12:07 (seventeen years ago)

I guess the Compilation is the natural medium of all Mondeo genres anyway.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 14 October 2007 12:09 (seventeen years ago)

^^^I smell talking point.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 14 October 2007 12:09 (seventeen years ago)

CORRECT ANSWER: Not in the top 40, although "In The Air Tonight", off the back off the Cadbury's advert, is top 20.

41 to 50 1

Take one bow.

Mark G, Monday, 15 October 2007 08:52 (seventeen years ago)

Level 42 totally rocking the Weather Report look there.

In fact if Level 42 had any fault it was not jazzing-out enough.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 15 October 2007 09:08 (seventeen years ago)

"Pretty Vacant" made 65.

Holidays in the sun is next and final.

Mark G, Monday, 22 October 2007 10:47 (seventeen years ago)

.. and that made 74. Two places above NOTHING!

Um, why was that one £4.99, and the others £3.99? Did they have to give a pound per copy to the holiday brochure they ripped off originally for the cover art?

Oh, and today you can get your heavyweight "Bollocks" album with free Submission 7" and poster, just like 1977 although they were hard to get then....

Mark G, Monday, 29 October 2007 11:35 (seventeen years ago)

this has been a shame-making episode for the nme, utterly pathetic.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 29 October 2007 11:37 (seventeen years ago)

NME has less influence than Chris Moyles. He managed to get a song into the top 30.
How long til the NME folds?
I wouldn't be surprised if the NME website tries to become the UK's answer to Pitchfork. So someone please hurry up and beat them to it!

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 29 October 2007 12:10 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, but then, the time was right for "Honey to the B" to mobilise the yout of our NATION!

Mark G, Monday, 29 October 2007 12:12 (seventeen years ago)

NME has less influence than Chris Moyles. He managed to get a song into the top 30.

Well he does have 7 million listeners so that is hardly surprising.

onimo, Monday, 29 October 2007 12:59 (seventeen years ago)

The fact there's 7 million dickheads in this country is depressing.

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 29 October 2007 13:14 (seventeen years ago)

that fact chris moyles is in this country is depressing

mark e, Monday, 29 October 2007 13:25 (seventeen years ago)

Oh there are more than that.

xp

onimo, Monday, 29 October 2007 13:25 (seventeen years ago)

Did the NME actually say anything about this failed campaign after the event of did they just pretend it never happened?
