hahaha...i loved this album when i was 14, peaches is my fave i reckon.

yeah this was the first album i ever owned, i got it when i was 10(?) years old after i got a stereo for my birthday

I also voted for we're not going to make it, although I am suprisingly nostalgic about the whole thing (doms opening with the kittykittykittykittykittytouchit struck a happy place i think)

You just made me want to play it for the first time in years. I've always really liked 'Tube Amplifier': "I got myself a brand new cymbal supplier, they're really great, they're Sabian!" ;o)

Now that I've looked at the CD case, it's actually 'Toob Amplifier'. Well, it has been a few years...

I also see that Matt Bayles was an assistant engineer on the record. Bit of a leap from this to Botch, Isis, Burnt By The Sun et al.

"Volcano" is the highlight, sure, but "Mach 5" and "Tiki God" are solid. I once saw a muppet cover band that for some reason opened and closed the set with that "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen..." thing and that was pretty great too.

I still have this in a binder somewhere. For some reason throwing away all of my CD cases in favor of binders seemed like a brilliant idea in junior high.

Was that referring to me? I just think it's interesting to see where a particular engineer/producer known for a particular sound or for working with bands of a certain ilk cut their teeth in other styles or genres. Like Les Claypool producing Yngwie. If something as innocuous as that makes you go off on one, well... I don't have anything to say to that.

This is a great album, I remember playing Earthworm Jim and listening to this over and over again.

I take my kid to see Caspar Babypants every chance I get but have never heard this band. Probably heard peaches at one point but couldn't tell you what it sounds like. The lyrics quoted above read a lot like Caspar lyrics though.

I saw Ween and the Foo Fighters open for Presidents of the USA in Feb. 1996. That Dave Grohl has come a long way.

I used to play the fuck out of this album when I was 14. I heard Lump before anyone else I knew and was kind of proud when POTUSA got big.

I'm surprised they still get those kinds of numbers on streaming, been a minute since I've heard either of their hits

still have a vivid memory of biking to the store and getting this CD used for $5, blasting it from my boom box with the windows open, only for my mom to come home right when the "fuck you kitty" part started. she took the CD away from me. when I finally got it back I was amused and kinda irritated that that was actually the only swear word on the CD

my band is v much considering covering "we are not going to make it"

leaving in that botched intro is the funniest part of the record

I enjoyed this band's hits until they inevitably got overplayed, but I never checked out their albums. Maybe I'll check them out thanks to this revive.

In 95/96, I was a dishwasher, and one of the waitresses would sometimes come back to my station with a full bus tub singing, "Millions of dishes...dishes for Doug." That is the peak of my POTUSA memories.

I appreciate that the main PotUSA pivoted to recording (not terrible, as such things go) children's music under the name Caspar Babypants. Also authored a few pre-K books.

Makes more sense than the guy from The Verve Pipe recording children's music under The Verve Pipe.

first album is definitely worth a listen, it's pretty tight and fun. falls apart a bit in the end but you kind of expect albums like this to. the ones after that are less good but they all have some worthy tunes.
