I have to download both these albums to decide my favorite song because I don't want to dig through my cd drawer (which happens to also be my sock drawer).

I voted for First Light without having heard The Pearl, which I must get.

I actually saw Harold Budd perform live last week (http://www.ocmevents.org/events/autumn%2007/harold_budd_a07.html). It was beautiful.

I voted for "Their Memories." That song has always struck me as being the standout track on an album of exceptional tracks.

"Against the Sky" from the Pearl has always been my favourite. The whole album(s) are gorgeous, but that one song just sets my mind into a still, mirror-lake landscape with drifting fog. Also, it has some fond memories from long ago.

this poll didn't go on long enough I guess

Yeah, this poll should have been longer. I wanted to break out these two and listen again. "Not Yet Remembered" (?The one with the wordless vocals) is beautiful. I also like "Late October" from The Pearl.

two years pass...

love plateaux so much its ridiculous. i watch a fair few silent films which occasionally have bad recently recorded scores attached. Plateaux is THE perfect thing to listen to whilst the shitty scores are muted.

one year passes...

Had I seen this many moons (and melodies) ago, I'd have gone with "Still Return," the final track on The Pearl. It seems to be a revisitation of the opener "Late October," slowed down or missing a few notes. It got no votes here. But it's the most lovely track on a most lovely album.
