Lovenest. I've just recently become kind of obsessed w/that one.

Heather, mostly for the aawwrrk! after the last chorus. And cos it's heartbreaking.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

god this poll is impossible.

voted for "Suck" though any track could really take it and i'd be happy - flawless album.

rotterdam, for the chiming guitars in the middle. but tough, yes.

koogs, Friday, 12 October 2007 09:51 (eighteen years ago)

jesus! how did i miss this poll?

grimly fiendish, Friday, 12 October 2007 10:01 (eighteen years ago)

I GENUINELY CANNOT DECIDE.

grimly fiendish, Friday, 12 October 2007 10:02 (eighteen years ago)

i'm going to abstain. it works as a perfect whole. i can't pick one song that's better than any other.

grimly fiendish, Friday, 12 October 2007 10:02 (eighteen years ago)

this is a great, great album. Dalliance is just about my favourite WP song overall so this isn't tough for me, but the competition is still strong. great opening trio of songs in particular.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 12 October 2007 12:18 (eighteen years ago)

Octopussy of course!

"Dalliance"

Bizarro is such a better album, though.

I would've been Heather back in the day. Then Octopussy. Today I'll go for Dare.

corduroy, but then i have only heard the confetti version

electricsound, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)

^^
the single version of Corduroy (from the year before) is much better than the album version.

I'm not a fan of the angry-shouty tracks on this album like Blonde and Lovenest. Or Heather, where he sounds constipated. But for a bloke not blessed with the greatest singing voice (he always sounds like he's being strangled) he manages to sound very tender and emotional on some of these. I like Rotterdam and Carolyn in their gentle kind of way. At the time Octopussy was probably my favourite, especially the "you don't have to do anything..." bit at the end. Dalliance is great as well, but I think Suck wins it for the way the tension builds up to that glorious "Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...." in the chorus.

dalliance
no. DARE

the corduroy/heather/come up and see me single/ep was wonderful wunnit.

i voted lovenest, but come on dalliance is just an overwhelming song.

Did that exist? I got Corduroy on the Three Songs EP in the autumn of 1990. It had Come Up And See Me, but not Heather. The other track was called Crawl. And there was a live track as well (so there were four songs), but I can't remember what that was right now.

Nasty, Brutish & Short, Friday, 12 October 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

The other track was called Crawl

... and it is their finest hour.

fuck it, i'm voting for "suck", because my 16-year-old self would want me to.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Friday, 12 October 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

so few votes. makes the little baby gedge cry.

grimly fiendish, Friday, 12 October 2007 23:15 (eighteen years ago)

I read this as "Seahorses Poll" and wondered if anybody had voted at all considering I didn't have the time to.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 12 October 2007 23:16 (eighteen years ago)

so few votes. makes the little baby gedge cry

I almost didn't see it, cos I've hidden polls in the wake of the recent slew. It's weird that no one else went for Octopussy. I genuinely thought it was obviously the album's pinnacle.

Alba, Friday, 12 October 2007 23:32 (eighteen years ago)

I'm happy to see that Dalliance won after all.

van smack, Friday, 12 October 2007 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

I'm happy with Dalliance, but I'm also surprised no one else went for Octopussy.
