"Never in A Million Years"... would I vote in a Boomtown Rats Singles Poll

Tom D., Friday, 12 October 2007 14:03 (seventeen years ago)

Gotta be "Someone's Lookin' At You"

Alex in NYC, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:05 (seventeen years ago)

"joey's on the street again" wasn't a single?

tipsy mothra, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

Y'know what? "House on Fire". Seriouxly.

Noodle Vague, Friday, 12 October 2007 16:53 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 14 October 2007 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Voted "Someone's Looking At You" just to decrease "I Don't Like Mondays"'s landslide win.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 15 October 2007 09:13 (seventeen years ago)

Landslide win on ILX? I think not.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 15 October 2007 09:13 (seventeen years ago)

Went with "Rat Trap." I actually like the first five singles more than "Mondays" (which is still good.)

Debut album has always been underrated, but A Tonic for Troops will always be my favorite.

Well okay -- maybe I don't like "Like Clockwork" more than "Mondays," come to think of it. (And I can see how somebody might vote for "Someone's Looking At You," now that I see it mentioned. Thing is, outside of "Rat Trap" and "Mondays" -- the only songs of these I've ever heard on commerical radio -- and "Looking After No. 1" -- which I've got on a compilation of punk singles -- I've never really thought of these tracks as "singles" per se' at all. Which probably just proves I'm a stupid American.)

I do think of "It's All The Rage" (which is great) as a single, though (since it's on the B-side of "Mondays." I forget; was that on an album, too?)

"joey's on the street again" wasn't a single?

Also great. (Rats in Thin Lizzy doing Springsteen mode.)

xhuxk, Monday, 15 October 2007 10:34 (seventeen years ago)

I always thought "Rat Trap" faded just when it was geting started!

Mark G, Monday, 15 October 2007 10:44 (seventeen years ago)

She's So Modern, barely over the other early ones. Though I did just replace the vinyl Tonic for the Troops and no Mary of the 4th Form or Joey's on the Street Again. Why can you make the CD reissue worse than the original? WTF?

Rule number one when creating a poll: Never give the haters a chance to express their opinions. :)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 11:39 (seventeen years ago)

Rule number minus one: You're assuming I didn't vote that way!

Mark G, Tuesday, 16 October 2007 13:17 (seventeen years ago)

Feel bad Clockwork took the collar. Ai ai ai ai.
