I was struck by just how many of Madness's greatest songs didn't appear on their albums:
It Must Be Love
Driving In My Car
House Of Fun
The Sun And The Rain
Wings Of A Dove
(Waiting For) The Ghost Train
I know they were the archetypal singles band, but, when did it become unfashionable to leave hit singles off of albums? Aand, what are your favorite hits left off albums?
(ps you all must buy the Madness box set. It includes all 24 Madness videos in Quicktime format, and one day I'll write an essay about how the videos of Madness are my generation's Looney Tunes.)
