bored with this song by October 4th.
― gr8080, Thursday, 1 November 2007 12:54 (eighteen years ago)
I remember when ILM didn't have a thread about this horrible song. It was such a nice board, sigh.
― StanM, Thursday, 1 November 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)
It's not very good.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 1 November 2007 13:12 (eighteen years ago)
dom has heard this = its a proper crossover hit?
― ☪, Thursday, 1 November 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)
There's an advert for it on MTV, saw it in between two episodes of Living On The Edge
― Dom Passantino, Thursday, 1 November 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)
It's even more annoying than The Annoying Song by the Butthole Surfers.
― StanM, Thursday, 1 November 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)
it is a proper crossover hit - they play it in my local nightclub mixed into the usual hairdresser house.
― tpp, Thursday, 1 November 2007 13:54 (eighteen years ago)
It's kind an odd choice to become a crossover hit though, it's not exactly anthemic. Maybe people just be loving the accordion.

Is there an Eric Prydz style pervy video? I'm assuming the answer to this is yes.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 1 November 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)
i'll admit to totally loving this tune tho. at work recently (a record store) we were playing this compilation of cumbia tunes (i believe) from the 70s when THAT accordion riff came out of the speakers. I was a bit floored and ran to see what was playing. i guess i naively thought it wasn't a sample...
also, a friend of mine just returned from the amsterdam dance event where he said the tune was so prevalent that the cab driver who picked him up at the airport had it as his ringtone! i guess that's one of the benefits of not living in or near europe...
― BATTAGS, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:22 (eighteen years ago)
I don't like this but I am happy it's doing well.
― Ronan, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:00 (eighteen years ago)
what did you think the first time you heard it, ronan? i'm not getting at you, i'm just curious whether you dislike the happy-go-lucky accordion stuff or just its ubiquity?

Lucho De Sedas, Jay-D y Los Selectos - Cumbia Cienaguera.
― elan, Friday, 2 November 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)
the video really should be pervier than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ806mlFoMY
i think this song is ok.
― jabba hands, Friday, 2 November 2007 00:20 (eighteen years ago)
I would much rather hear Heater than that Souljaboy song, which one of my co-workers has as a ringtone.
― Jena, Friday, 2 November 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)
One of the problems with Heater is that I listened to some tracks off his new album and, after liking them I realized how easy it is to forget that Samim is actually a good producer. I like to think of the idea of heater as a joke gone terribly wrong, by which I mean that I think it was probably an entirely unserious track which came about from playing around, which was released and then out of nowhere exploded everywhere. That being said I've never minded Heater, it's really not that bad and now it makes me want to eat at low-end Italian restaurant chains, haha.

fake, right? has anyone actually seen it on TV?
― gr8080, Monday, 5 November 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)
I should clarify...I don't hate it. I just don't particularly love it. I have no real opinion on it I suppose, I just think it's not really something I'd play.
You see it getting slated on dance forums but it seems to be a bit like people making a statement by hating on it, a boring statement.
― Ronan, Monday, 5 November 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)
Oh and I agree Samim is a great producer...some really good remixes lately.
This record is good.

It looks as though Samim got bored, he hasn't released anything since 2007.
― mmmm, Sunday, 24 April 2011 10:16 (fifteen years ago)
Probably living fat off Heater royalties.
― EDB, Sunday, 24 April 2011 17:02 (fifteen years ago)
donna rouge brought this track up on fbook the other day when i posted that stupid yet horribly infection Edward Maya track that is still playing on the radio two years after its release. hadn't thought about it in a while, listened to it, and remembered how much i hated it.

hahaha nah you were right the first time
I liked it when it came out, now it just sounds irritating
― dmr, Monday, 25 April 2011 03:13 (fifteen years ago)
Really like this (and the video is actually nice in its non-pervyness). Been checking out the source -- Colombian Cumbia, another plus!
