Really enjoying this so far, the "Manoman" tracks are especially awesome. The whole thing is more or less a compilation though. It's great.

I'm pretty sure this is now my favourite black dice album.

I know, right?, Monday, 5 November 2007 09:56 (eighteen years ago)

Kinda in one ear and out the other tho?

Tom D., Monday, 5 November 2007 10:17 (eighteen years ago)

How do you mean?

I know, right?, Monday, 5 November 2007 10:45 (eighteen years ago)

Just seems bland to me. I must admit I'd never heard them before however!

Tom D., Monday, 5 November 2007 10:47 (eighteen years ago)

Not what I expected I suppose.

Tom D., Monday, 5 November 2007 10:47 (eighteen years ago)

Well they reinvent themselves with every record or whatever. I suppose it is a bit backgroundy, but I always find noise music very relaxing.

I know, right?, Monday, 5 November 2007 10:57 (eighteen years ago)

But there's hardly any noise! I do quite like it but it seems a bit old fashioned somehow, that looped samples thing seems mid-to-late 80s.

Tom D., Monday, 5 November 2007 11:00 (eighteen years ago)

Like what? I'd be into some more stuff like this!

I know, right?, Monday, 5 November 2007 11:05 (eighteen years ago)

I thought you were coming home?

o-ess, Monday, 5 November 2007 11:08 (eighteen years ago)

Sometimes I'm so confused and don't know what anybody is talking about. I thought this was where people could talk about Black Dice new album, but apparently it is not.

Well they reinvent themselves with every record or whatever.

not really in this case... to me it's pretty close to the feel of Broken Ear Record...

braveclub, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:05 (seventeen years ago)

The Manoman 12" is my favorite Black Dice release.

mizzell, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:05 (seventeen years ago)

Me too. Though I really dig Creature Comforts.

contenderizer, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

xp

Its even more pared down. Manoman is like a really stripped back snarly yow though.

I know, right?, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

anyone ever heard this chimes in the black water thing? and if so what is it like?

I know, right?, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)

So long since I heard Cold Hands I can barely recall what they used to sound like

They are coming around my parts next month, really looking forward to that. Haven't really listened to Load Blown though, are they playing that stuff live now? Probably need to get this anyway

sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:10 (seventeen years ago)

I would love to see them, doubt they'll be in Dublin anytime soon though.

I know, right?, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:11 (seventeen years ago)

i have to say though, i like bjorn's visual art more than any of the music.

mizzell, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:16 (seventeen years ago)

*cough*

I know, right?, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:16 (seventeen years ago)

At least say Hisham!

I know, right?, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:17 (seventeen years ago)

xxxp
Well there's just info on a small a tour in Scandinavia right now so who knows

It would be fun to hear someting off Beaches & Canyons too, could imagine that stuff being pretty fearsome live. A shame!

sonderangerbot, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:17 (seventeen years ago)

I was so not into Beaches and Canyons for the longest time, but now I really like it. Creature Comforts is still the best one though. I think.

I know, right?, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

three years pass...

man there are a ton of black dice threads. so i won't start a new one for this

Seminal NYC based art punk DIY enthusiasts / purists, BLACK DICE have returned with their sixth studio album MR. IMPOSSIBLE to be released April 10th on Ribbon Music. The nine song album combines 15 years of collaboration into one explosive electronic breakout monster mash. Over the course of their career Black Dice have refined a compositional palate that is entirely their own. Inspired by the banged up punk gallery art ethos of Men’s Recovery Project, The Seeds and their own live shows Black Dice have arrived with the creation of Mr. Impossible. A being unto itself. Bridging a divide between the thrashings of punk and trance music, Mr. Impossible takes itself serious, breathes with melody and revels in a let loose , wild out , fuck off good time. Sound nuts? Well, it’s not. This is easy to enjoy fun for all frontier music! Get on it.
