We've done this.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

oh :(

i searched for it!

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

still can't find it in the search...

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:47 (eighteen years ago)

Best Pet Shop Boys Album

result 3 for "pet shop boys album"

abanana, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:48 (eighteen years ago)

doesn't show up in my search for "pet shop boys"

...oddly enough.

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:51 (eighteen years ago)

anyway, looking at that other poll -- and this one's slightly different.

• no singles collection "Discography"
• no career overview "PopArt"
• no "Disco" 1/2/3/4

this poll is strictly studio albums. granted, i wouldn't have necessarily made it had i seen the other poll, but it's different enough to run, i guess. where are those votes that went to PopArt and Discography gonna go this time?

plus, mine has pictures. nyah!!!!!

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:53 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I say lets go on with this one. Plus I didn't get to vote on the previous one. Just in case I've already voted for Actually.

daavid, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 03:59 (eighteen years ago)

everyone vote for very. that is the correct answer.

CaptainLorax, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

No it isn't.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

Actually it is.

abanana, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:13 (eighteen years ago)

Actually is it!

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:14 (eighteen years ago)

("Dreaming of the Queen" and "Go West" irritate me so much that I can't call that album their best even though some of their best songs are on it.)

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:15 (eighteen years ago)

So no voting for Disco 3, then? That one is so good.

Eazy, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:21 (eighteen years ago)

no kidding, i love Disco 3 -- favorite of the Disco releases, easily.

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

(haven't heard Disco 4, granted)

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:25 (eighteen years ago)

Everyone should vote for Actually! Here why:

4 amazing tracks: What Have I Done To Deserve This?, Rent, It's A Sin and
King's Cross,

3 excellent ones: One More Chance, Shopping, It Couldn't Happen Here,

3 good ones: Hit Music, Heart, I Want To Wake Up ,

and no filler.

daavid, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:28 (eighteen years ago)

I still love Disco 2.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:28 (eighteen years ago)

(also daavid almost OTM: "One More Chance" is also amazing and "I Want To Wake Up is excellent)

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:33 (eighteen years ago)

thought about my own poll for nearly an hour...

and finally voted for Behavior.

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:36 (eighteen years ago)

i mean, for me it's a toss-up between Behavior and Actually, actually.

but tonight, i like Behavior best.

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 04:38 (eighteen years ago)

Introspective > Actually > Please > Behavior > everything else

xhuxk, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 08:36 (eighteen years ago)

why introspective, xhuxk?

i'm curious how it placed so well in the previous poll too. introspective has never been among my favorites, and i didn't know it was so well-liked until now. is it popular with the "club" audience or something? i mean, there's some great songs on there, but i think most/all of them are superior in the shorter versions on Discography.

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 09:09 (eighteen years ago)

("Dreaming of the Queen" and "Go West" irritate me so much that I can't call that album their best even though some of their best songs are on it.)

ha--those are my two favorite songs on Very; which gets my vote, needless to say.

JN$OT, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)

That version of "Go West"

Those "come on, come on" backing vocals...

A tribute to "Pretend we're dead" L7, right?

Mark G, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 10:12 (eighteen years ago)

"Very". Closely followed by "Behaviour".

I fear their worst album may win this though. Even "Release" is better than "Introspective", which is a pointless remix album with way too many house influenced tracks.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 12:44 (eighteen years ago)

"Actually" is better, but has too many digital synths and samples. 1987 in a nutshell.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 12:45 (eighteen years ago)

Voted for Please cuz I heard it most recently, on the strength of "Two Divided By Zero," "Why Don't We Live Together?" and, oh yeah, the singles.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

Introspective. By *miles*.

pisces, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

and yeah DISCO 3 is madly under-rated.
TRY IT and TIME ON MY HANDS can still move the right dancefloors.
fantastic cover art too.

pisces, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

I realized I really couldn't trust people when I found out how much PSB fans liked Introspective.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

why introspective, xhuxk?

Most fleshed-out/least emaciated sound; best beat; highest percentage of tracks I don't get bored with (can't go wrong with six). Just seems like their warmest record. Latin freestyle and early Chicago house influences probably helped a lot in that vein.

xhuxk, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

(I'm not saying I like it a lot more than their first two records; just saying that, if a gun was held to my head, that's the one I'd pick. Definitely like it a lot more than anything they did later, though--Behavior included.)

xhuxk, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)

I fear their worst album may win this though. Even "Release" is better than "Introspective", which is a pointless remix album with way too many house influenced tracks.

The fact that Geir hates it so much makes me more confident in my choice, actually. I'm confused about his "remix" claim, though -- Were there shorter original versions of the Introspective tracks that came out before the actual album did? I've got a 12-inch of "Left To My Own Devices (The Disco Mix)" from around that time, but it's three minutes longer than the version on the album.

xhuxk, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 15:41 (eighteen years ago)

xhuxk, that's fair enough, thanks!

stephen, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)

The remastered Introspective includes the 7-inch mixes released as singles.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

But I voted for the real one, not the remastered one (which I'm guessing would be harder to get through, just like most remastered/expanded whatchamacallits.)

xhuxk, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

Those bonus disc are brilliant track-by-track but become a bit weary to play through in their entirety as they tend to contain the same song twice or even 3 times in different versions etc.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 01:35 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Saturday, 10 November 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 11 November 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

no love at all for the last 4 albums? daaaaamn.

stephen, Sunday, 11 November 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

I love "Fundamental", but "Very" and "Behaviour" are both better.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 11 November 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)
