Ryan Adams on Charlie Rose

Last night I was watching Charlie Rose and lo and behold Ryan Adams was a guest....you can get any more mainstream than that. Anyway, Ryan Adams struck me as an amiable, intelligent and articulate guy who's just trying find his way in the world. Did anybody see the show last night?

My favorite part was Charlie working up a pause into one of his mock profound declarative questions: "...the...Dylan...thing...?"

I like Adams a lot, but I thought he was surprisingly boring interview. Certainly not as good as Bjork on Charlie Rose, which was pretty damn brilliant. Rose seemed really into her.

Oh yeah, Adams haters would be glad to know that he was actually smoking on air, with a pack of Marlboros placed conspicuously next to his ashtray.

No Bryan Adams questions for him? A shame. Amiable, intelligent and articulate guys need not be memorable musicians, as can be demonstrated by my lack of musical talent. ;-)
