His "return" to dance music. I got the watermark on Friday and have given it several listens. Definitely an improvement over his last two (ie- I didn't turn it off in disgust after the third track). It comes with a note from the artist (how Moby) talking about how his recent DJing has gotten him back into dance music. I'll probably play "Everyday is 1989" next time I DJ. Pure pre-Ardcore wailing diva house. Not sure if it's just my mood lately or if Moby's vintage has finally come back around.

There is something utterly pathetic about this.

exactly. his corny earnestness has always been a turn-off.
at least outside the context of the actual music, where it works occasionally.

Moby strikes me as having significantly more luck than taste. I might give this a listen, though, since I used to like bits off Moby and Early Underground.

I'll be curious to hear it. I still love a lot of his older stuff.

No duh! Since when has "taste" had anything to do with making good records?
Ned: You gotta be kidding. Take a look at what yer saying, for chrissakes!

I think Moby's corny earnestness has always been sorta cute. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy.
i used to wait on him at a vegan restaurant in the east village. he came in at least once every weekend, always with a different girl. very, very nice.

kind of like Michael Stipe is nice, I'd guess

If it's even half as good as Play I'll eat my hat.

not sure if i'll check this out...but...
i dunno, i tend to like people who are earnest, even if they're corny. better than the sarcastic fucker who just snarks at everything. i also don't see what's so pathetic about getting into dance music by way of djing again.

(not implying that any of you are sarcastic fuckers)

I’ll check it out. Moby does diva house well.
― Mr. Goodman, Monday, 12 November 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)
I’ll check it out. Moby does diva house better than he does anything else.
fixed

Ha, valid.

Hey, you know what's not a good song? Moby's death metal version of "Whip It."
