What happened to Chris Cornell's voice

His lower range voice sounds the same on his new album Carry On but he sounds like an old man when he gets into his higher range. Too much screaming in his Soundgarden days?

Yeah I think it's pretty common knowledge that his voice is shot. Lot of hard rock singers just scream their voice away over time, I'd guess that's what happened to him (don't know if he still drinks or smokes but maybe that did some damage too). It's a shame, I'd probably wanna see him live or hear his new records if that was the case. At least I got to see Soundgarden on their last tour when his voice was still in good shape, though.

"if that was the case" = should've said "if that wasn't the case"

Lucky...I loved his Soundgarden vocals.

I remember he still sounded really good on Euphoria Morning, amazing just how long 8 years in the life of a rock singer.

the material on his new album isn't bad either, but his voice on the higher notes is just hard to stomach...

one year passes...

He never did anything in his solo work as good as "Seasons", right? I'm not missing anything?

I wore that album OUT in jr high, like to the point where as long as I live, try as I might, I'll never listen to any of the Soundgarden albums as many times. one of the few albums I absolutely cannot/will not ever revisit due to associations
