I think I have a crush.
Should I get the whole album? Anybody?

El Tomboto, Monday, 12 November 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

It's pretty grebt.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 12 November 2007 19:54 (eighteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

I'm having a bit of an issue tracking down the remixes but this album is fucking classic so far. SPENCER CHOW HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS CHICK?

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 December 2007 07:07 (eighteen years ago)

don't wanna be a hater but she reminds me a bit of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0CHAZJr3OE

NSFL

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 December 2007 07:22 (eighteen years ago)

like, a little warning next time please, I know Mackro Mackro and a few other people dig on that shit but some of us have, uh, working pituitaries

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 December 2007 07:23 (eighteen years ago)

haha I didn't even watch that video long enough to realize it wasn't J-Pop

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 December 2007 07:25 (eighteen years ago)

still BLARGH

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 December 2007 07:25 (eighteen years ago)

haha sorry, there are some pretty great/crepey ytmnd's of that show

bnw, Saturday, 8 December 2007 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

so anyway I'm surprised "Mal Poli" isn't a single yet, I love this shit.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 December 2007 09:04 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man! I love her "A Cause Des Garcons" cover. Fan-bloody-tastic. I'm also in love with the blokes in the clip: the Punky haircut, skinny jeans and kandy kolored sneakers. Yum yum. So this is apparently zee nouveau thing: Tecktonik. Anyone know more about this genre? I need to get more of this, uh, stuff.

nathalie, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 10:22 (eighteen years ago)

*drool* Yes, I'm a pathetic mother of two who's drooling over these 20sths. :-(

nathalie, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 10:23 (eighteen years ago)

I wanted to like this, but the original remains way better

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 10:38 (eighteen years ago)

You're right, but I can't help enjoying this as well.

Yelle- Cause des Garons (Riot In Belgium Remix)

anyone heard this version? any good?

nathalie, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 10:43 (eighteen years ago)

nathalie, you know you're drooling over 3 super gay dudes?

jaxon, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:05 (eighteen years ago)

sweet, the ACDG single is on amazon.com downloads now

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

Tombot, I have mentioned Yelle on other threads! I am obviously a HUGE fan and urge anyone who likes Annie to check her out.

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

Exactly my position

I actually prefer the single mix:

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

I actually play it out often.

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

There's also a fun edit of her "Ce Jeu" which throws in some synths from Heaven 17's "Let Me Go" by LA's own Them Jeans.

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

"YELLE" is french for HOLLA t/f?

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

It should be because the tepr rmx of ACDG is FUCKIJG AWESMOE

El Tomboto, Thursday, 13 December 2007 07:43 (eighteen years ago)

Yelle- Cause des Garons (Riot In Belgium Remix)

good version, a little too short!

Err, I'm not sure you do, Nath, unless you have a soft spot for cheap-ass euro-trance

if this interview is to be believed it's an acronym for "you enjoy life," feminized because there's a Belgian band called Yel.

Nick Minichino, Thursday, 20 December 2007 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

Yelle es beau...

henry s, Thursday, 20 December 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

with some of the crap that's getting posted in the singles/albums of the year nominations thread I'm surprised this hasn't shown up. On the other hand, I'm really not.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 December 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

Should maybe run a myspace/youtube specific poll for song of the year, just for Je Veux Te Voir/Chocolate Rain/Crank That

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 December 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

I think it was nominated for the 2006 poll. but no harm in nominating it again.

danzig, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:18 (eighteen years ago)

'Je Veux Te Voir' reminds me of 'Short Dick Man' but with an even more annoying vocal :/

blueski, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

i see she mentions Lil Jon tho!

blueski, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

it's original title was "short dick cuizi"

danzig, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:43 (eighteen years ago)

I didn't realize the original myspace storm was last year

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:47 (eighteen years ago)

I guess this year was the actual album

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)

Jaxon, I am very aware of the silliness of my crush. I also know that I do not stand a chance. ;-) That said, I am still crushing over'em. :-)

Fabrice, I checked out some of that trancy shit (as my husband also more or less described it). Weirdly I quite like it. Hmm. I also checked out some Youtube "how to dance" clips. I am officially an old bitch: most are half my age and I would never be able to dance lie this. Not even badly. WTF.

She rose to fame on myspace.com when she posted a song titled "Short Dick Cuizi", dissing Cuizinier, a member of the Parisian hip-hop group TTC.

stevienixed, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

Also: I dislike Annie so thank god I never saw the comp with said Norwegian lass.; -)

stevienixed, Friday, 21 December 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

love "Parle à ma main"

roxymuzak, Friday, 20 June 2008 07:08 (seventeen years ago)

Je Veux Te Voir is really cackhanded and annoying. What's the difference between this and Uffie?

Matt DC, Friday, 20 June 2008 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

I know I'm way late to the party but the Tepr mix of A Cause is kicking my ass, even though I'm not even close to a fan of electronic music. Should I seek out Yelle albums? Or Tepr stuff?

adamj, Friday, 20 June 2008 09:34 (seventeen years ago)

ah, I remember how startled I was when my 8 years old girl cousines started singing "parle a ma main", especially the "les mecs y pensent qu'a nous mettre des doigts" ("guys only think about fingering us") part... puzzling...

AleXTC, Friday, 20 June 2008 12:34 (seventeen years ago)

I have only heard that diss song of her and I expected her to look a whole lot sassier than she did when I finally copped the video but I still like it. I sang it to this one friend I have whose a Christian and French (I KNOW!) and she was proper insulted till I explained.
Its a great song, really fun.

VeronaInTheClub, Friday, 20 June 2008 12:54 (seventeen years ago)

well, the lyrics are pretty heavy for such a popular song in france. it's the "chansons grivoises" tradition, i guess (and the french christians aren't the last to like that kinda things).

AleXTC, Friday, 20 June 2008 13:21 (seventeen years ago)

Such a great album.

fit and working again, Monday, 15 March 2010 17:24 (fifteen years ago)

the song she's done with crookers is pretty awesome. apparently she was working on a new album in autumn/winter just gone. seems like she hasn't done anything for aaages - other than the katy perry thing.

NI, Wednesday, 17 March 2010 09:49 (fifteen years ago)

Also the excellent Robyn cover last year.

I put Safari Disco Club on a recent mixtape and have listened to the song quite a few times even though I kind of don't like it. Not sure she's ever going to top A Cause des Garcons.

skip, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

well, not many people ever will.

The new album's very enjoyable. I suspect, like the first one, it'll sound better live than on record though. Wish i'd known she was supporting Katy Perry next week. Comme Un Enfant is my pick of the bunch at the moment.

I was surprised to see posters for her playing a large club here after not seeing her name for years since she appeared. I will go back to not thinking of her.

Definitely worth it - her live show is terrific.

This revive sponsored by Annie from Norway coming out with her first new album after eleven years.
