His son Josh Haden is a bass guitarist and singer. He recorded with 1980s punk band Trecherous Jaywalkers (who recorded for SST Records), and is presently a member of Spain. His triplet daughters, Petra, Tanya and Rachel Haden, are all musicians. Formerly of that dog., Petra was a member of progressive folk group The Decemberists, Rachel was a founding member of rock band, The Rentals, and Tanya is married to actor Jack Black.

In the Cajun world there's the Savoy family with dad Marc, wife Anne, and several sons who play music. In the zydeco world the late Bouzoo Chavis and his sons used to play music together, then there's the late John Delafose and his son Geno.
New Orleans jazz has the various Andrews brothers and cousins and of course the Marsalis family.

Popsy Dixon died of bladder cancer on January 9, 2015. Wendell Holmes died on June 19, 2015 from complications due to pulmonary hypertension.[14] As of 2015, Sherman Holmes, the sole-surviving member of the band, resides in Saluda, Virginia.
Sherman, the bassist from the band, is still performing (with a new group). I might go see him at JVs in Falls Church, VA tonight
― curmudgeon, Thursday, 3 November 2016 20:21 (nine years ago)
Was kinda disappointing. The Holmes Brothers band I liked, surviving member Sherman let his guitarist and drummer do too many honky-tonk meets blues-rock numbers. When Sherman sang gospel, they sounded better. The post-family band life...
