"Someone said to me recently that they didn't think the recorded version [of 'Point That Thing']was particularly good. Perhaps it isn't."

yesss. the live version on COMPILATION is sooooooo much better in every way.

Steve Shasta, Monday, 19 November 2007 21:40 (eighteen years ago)

Guess I need compilation, now.

Trip Maker, Monday, 19 November 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, me too. i actually thought that Compilation had all the same stuff as Anthology? Am I wrong?

tylerw, Monday, 19 November 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

There's a number of live tracks on -Compilation- that didn't wind up on -Anthology-, but all the studio stuff did.

And it's all good! Thanks for reading!

Whoa, this is really cool, and especially relevant to me since I've been revisiting The Clean lately (prompted, mostly, by seeing David Kilour live last Thursday!).

and since this is the most recent Clean thread, it should be noted that they are playing some shows pretty soon in Brooklyn (at the Cake Shop I believe). I'd also be willing to bet they're going to show up at one of Yo La Tengo's Hannukah shows around the same time.

I wish I'd been able to go see Kilgour when he came through Minneapolis. I did get to see the Clean this year, and the live version of "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" blew away the studio version. Same with "Too Much Violence," which was absolutely amazing live.

I'm so psyched about the reunion shows at the Cake Shop! In fact, I bought a ticket today so I'll be at all three shows. Their US gigs in the late '80s with Chris Knox rank among the best shows I've ever seen. Yayyyy.

I highly recommed that 'In A Live" EP for a great taste of the band live -- and the original cassette for 'Oddities 2' has their first ever live show, which is surprisingly good as well. Anyway, I just can't friggin wait for this!
