Wait a second?!?!? Dave Matthews, Aerosmith and the Barenaked Ladies are artists you respect, but MTV has BASTARDIZED them! Hahahaha.

I grew up in an MTV household. I remember digging Devo, Prince, and Talking Heads in 2nd grade (around when we got cable). My favorite videos as a kid were P. Gabriel "Sledgehammer" and H. Hancock's "Rockit". Caught some good stuff on Yo! and Headbanger's Ball later on. And Nirvana had a huge impact on me. Now that I think back it's funny how MTV pushed Nirvana on me, and Nirvana helped fuel the anti-corporate/establishment fires in me. By my mid-teens my mom was having financial troblems, and I told her to cancel cable. MTV was The Man just like government, school, and wal-mart. Now I don't care about MTV and it doesn't care about me. I still watch it occasionally at my girlfriend's house but am more likely to watch BET. If I don't turn it on it stays in its prison; if I do turn it on I join it. TV mostly exists these days to sit you down and shut you up. I'm assuming most peeps at this board feel similarly, but I could be wrong. Of course Viacom is not sweating that website, even though it includes such biting lines as "And why, may you ask, is MTV still doing on the air?" Why are they still doing on the air, indeed. And I say if you don't like the music, blame the bands.
