Not sure it it will redeem the fairly lame Fabric podcast but the 3rd installment features the one and only Doc Scott. Haven't listened to this yet but he was a great DJ 'back in the day' (although this isn't a dj mix of course).

Doc Scott is an original and respected pioneer from deep within the UK's underground drum & bass movement, responsible for some of the genre's defining moments. For the third show in the fabric podcast series, Scott reveals the inspirational music behind his legendary DJ sets and productions, with tracks from the likes of Vangelis, Jazzy Jeff, Mr Fingers, Pink Floyd and Underground Resistance.

I've never heard of any of these people except ltj bukem

Coming up in the series: Jonny Trunk, Ross Allen, LTJ Bukem, Dave Dorrell and more.

Who? WTF?

Mr. Goodman, Thursday, 20 December 2007 03:46 (eighteen years ago)

Jonny Trunk runs the fantastic Trunk label:

A Trunk Records Poll

So should be an interesting selection. Ross Allen is a lesser known Gilles Peterson type chap. I used to listen to his show on Greater London Radio quite a lot. Don't know Dave Dorrell. No doubt Bukem's selection will be full of Lonnie Liston Smith tunes.

And he was the stand in bassist for The Eagles on their 1992 tour.

And he drives around in an ice cream truck adorned with human skulls.

The Macallan 18 Year, Thursday, 20 December 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

He was a journalist originally - NME or Melody Maker

Tom D., Thursday, 20 December 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

... of course that might be a different Dave Dorrell

Tom D., Thursday, 20 December 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

ahh Dave dorrel.
wasn't he behind the glorius, but ultimately failed, ZTT dance/rock experiment - Nasty Rox Inc ?
wonder if Dave has a cd copy of the CA$H album.
its a ZTT holy grail artifact ..

sam500, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 12:07 (seventeen years ago)

i suspect tis the don letts one ?

mark e, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 12:18 (seventeen years ago)

"kind of a" dbag is a very polite description of don letts. "Should fuck off back to the 70s and stay there" would be more apposite.

Neil S, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 12:37 (seventeen years ago)

I heard rumours.

ROBERTA
Who is this, Enid?

ENID
It's supposed to be Don Letts.

ROBERTA
And what was your reason for choosing
him as your subject?

ENID
I dunno... I just hate Don Letts.
