John Cunningham, the kinda folk-pop guy, not the new stuff

I do love starting threads that only I read. Anyway, looks like there's no John Cunningham mentions anywhere around here. According to his website, there's going to be a downloadable remastering of selections from his first three, somewhat underappreciated and hard to find, albums.

I bought the least obscure one of those, Bringing in the Blue from 1994, a long time ago and recently pulled it out, and was struck again by how incredible the track "Paris Green" is: very Meddle-era Pink Floyd with a slight Talk Talk (late Talk Talk) jazz drums, musical swirl thing going on. Nothing else on that album seems quite as stunning, but it does hit a really interesting place that often seems like an alternate universe Pink Floyd, without being obvious about things.

Just wondering if anyone else knows the first three albums (especially the 2nd) and if I should be excited to hear more. And god, if Paris Green isn't a seriously overlooked classic, I doesn't know what is.

Hmmm, I don't know what that means!

Who the hell is this guy that stole my name and is so adored by so many?

Now I feel old or something.

I've never actually heard his music, though he produced an album I own by the Belgian band Melon Galia that's not bad.

xp Wait, what?

two years pass...

Revisiting this totally abortive thread because I finally got around to putting up a video of the best song I've heard by this guy, which still sounds as I described it two years ago. I dream that someday some nice French ILMer will hook me up with the apparently unfindable Shankly Gates CD by Cunningham. His official website has pretty much ceased to exist.

two months pass...

His two most recent albums(Homeless House and Happy Go Unlucky) just got reissued as a CD comp and download. The CD's pretty pricey, though.
