ITT, mainstream music critics of the late 90s turn up and apologise for repeatedly giving Asian Dub Foundation positive reviews

They had some good tunes in the 90s, none of their albums was a masterpiece, but nothing wrong with them either. Plus a festival gig they had here in 1998 or 1999 was one of the best I've ever attended.

Hating ADF today is like hating Arrested Development - too easy.

Because it's based more on hating the hype band got back then (which is justified, I guess) than the quality of the music itself.

I saw them at a festival too, in the summer of 2000. I remember enjoying them, but not enough to go buy a record or anything. That, and I'd just wandered into the tent they were playing after seeing Yo La Tengo, so I was in a pretty good mood at the time.

I refuse to move on this until we get the Senser trials out of the way.

Also I wd like one copy of "Buzzin'" to be taken into consideration.

i remember reading one audience review where the womans main complaint was that they werent sexy enough.

When you're competing with Dodgy and Collapsed Lung you better be damn sure you look your best.

Collapsed Lung > Asian Dub Foundation > Dodgy

Yeah Collapsed Lung had the better bass player. But "Buzzin'" is still a great single. Dodgy unquestionably last in either category.

No they sucked, and you gave them all those 10/10 reviews that could have gone to a proper band like Urusei Yatsura.

never listened to ADF but i liked how critical Chandrasonic was of bands like Travis in an NME round-table thing back in '99.

still like that DJ Scud remix of FunDaMental tho

Can't see why the hate for ADF, what they did they did very well, the singles were good, they were great when I saw them live, and I also saw them do a live soundtrack to La Haine which was excellent.

The actual soundtrack to Le Haine's great enough as it is, that SupremeNTM track still kills it.

I thought ADF were pretty good, but the hype they got was ridiculous at the time.
