When did Octopus Project change their name?
/nitpicky jerkoff
― Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 04:54 (seventeen years ago)
I think you are thinking of a different octopus project (just like there is a band called The Prints versus Prints)
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 04:56 (seventeen years ago)
I think he is thinking of your mispelling of Project as "Porject."

Gibson hopes to sell 4,000 of the first limited-edition "robot guitars" worldwide, with 10 percent of those sales expected in Japan, said Yasuhiko Iwanade, president of Gibson Guitar Corp. Japan.
"Robots are very popular in Japan. So this is something that matches the developments here these days. It's a technology that Japanese can understand," he said.
Gibson has a history of innovating with guitars that fits well with robotics technology, Iwanade said.

Some of the bands that I linked here have been talked about plenty and are only included for comprehensive purposes. Others aren't talked about at all and some of those acts are awesome. And some bands here, although mediocre or bland, might have a song or two that works well on a great mix cd (or a compilation cd if you are opposed to mixes).
Le Loup myspace The Vestals myspace Sovus Radio myspace American Football myspace Efterklang myspace Epicure myspace
If you don't want to discuss any of the groups already listed, feel free to contribute some gnarly local act or undiscoverd lesser-known talents with a myspace. (And I'll try to post less big name acts that have been more than enough in other ILM threads. And I'll try not to post bands that suck. I apologize if I posted some)
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:18 (seventeen years ago)
This isn't a very good thread
― Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:36 (seventeen years ago)
the single word i hate the most in conjunction with musical discussion: "eclectic". and so many people just love it.
look on facebook for fuck's sake. "ive got a very ecclectic taste, *lists shite sack of hackneyed indie shit*"
― Just got offed, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:39 (seventeen years ago)
Great thread title though
― W4LTER, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:43 (seventeen years ago)
eh, I just used the word 'eclectic' to post a wide variety of alternative lounge acts
but if you don't like Georgie James, His Name is Alive, Epicure, U.N.P.O.C., King Creosote, or Archer Prewitt than I don't think you will like anything here. I thought someone would get a kick out of some of these groups.
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:43 (seventeen years ago)
the album by le loup is really good. though i do flip past the middle section with storm/noise, as i think it spoils the flow.
― mark e, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:53 (seventeen years ago)
I was leaning moretowards eclectic in the eucalyptus hippie sense. Georgie James is my new archer prewitt alternative. Le loup is just trippy like most of these artists?
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 11:56 (seventeen years ago)
I just barfed in my pants
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 14:13 (seventeen years ago)
i like some his name is alive stuff. what the hell are they doing on this list?
the rest of this is bargain bin pro-tools christrock-sounding indie that doesn't need to be discussed, really
― winston, Thursday, 6 December 2007 02:15 (seventeen years ago)
more for your eclectic list:
santana weird al todd rundgren
― winston, Thursday, 6 December 2007 02:16 (seventeen years ago)
oh and pat boone of course
― winston, Thursday, 6 December 2007 02:17 (seventeen years ago)
sorry for takin the piss, but i guess that's what this thread is for right??? (other than to compliment your badazz ascii skills)
― winston, Thursday, 6 December 2007 02:18 (seventeen years ago)
This thread was supposed to be about finding new bands. not just santana. I doubt you gave enough of those a full listen (even if there is only a few songs on most of their myspaces). But if you don't like "eclectic music" and rather hear Hard Rock, B.O.C. or Artic Monkeys than I don't think you should post bands in here anyways. I dont expect all the bands I mention to be awesome but there is some well deserved contenders you may have overlook or chose to overlook and complain just cuz you don't like that style. In that case, please keep your comments to yourself.
― CaptainLorax, Thursday, 6 December 2007 03:21 (seventeen years ago)
weirdo
― cutty, Thursday, 6 December 2007 03:29 (seventeen years ago)
So by "eclectic" you mean "indie rock/pop that's not too loud." I mean I guess that's what LJ already said, more or less. But seriously, what is it you want us to do here, spin the propeller on your cap and tell you what a good boy you are for liking some bands?
― Hurting 2, Thursday, 6 December 2007 03:44 (seventeen years ago)
You could just check out some of the bands (I don't think I like octopus prject either).
I came off wrong as soon as I started this thread. It was doomed to fail. Yeah my version of ecelctic isnt what some of yours ideas but I thought some of you might have a band or two that is similar to my taste and would fit well on this list?
anyways, woooh, I can spin my propellor. And if you aren't interested in these groups I understand, I didn't make a neat enough list I suppose, and I included some Klunkers I suppose.
Don't participate in this thread and just let it die. I admit it, I messed up.

Are American Football still going? They scored big with "The One with the Tambourine," but I thought they proceeded to go up in smoke.
(But then I guess the inclusion of Gastr means this isn't a "current artists" thing...?)

― Life! The Story of Life (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 6 November 2010 01:18 (fourteen years ago)
but seriously the mobius band aren't bad, i guess - i only know of them from the song "electric piano" which i've listened to like a dozen times in the last four years after hearing them randomly on my tiny ass lil arkansas college radio station and then having to freakin google the lyrics cause the station was so lo budget they didn't even keep playlists on the website. anyways it's a corny song, probably embarassing, but i enjoy it enough to have searched them and found this thread. so keep up the good work CaptainLorax my beautiful buttercup

checkin back in for CaptainLorax's reply
― am0n, Saturday, 6 November 2010 01:29 (fourteen years ago)
I don't know is my reply
Some myspaces here have some good songs on them. Some of them I just posted without hearing much. Some of the bands died after basically 1 album
I sort of wish Sovus Radio would take off so that the album I bought from an early show would become valuable
