Now, this guy from the Midnight Oil is a Minister for Environment, Heritage and Arts in Australia.
Who else became politician? Gilberto Gil, Sonny Bono, not mentioning Jello Biafra (who didn't have any positions), but there should be more, come on.

peter garret is minister for environment but he's not allowed to speak of the environment because he's a bit dim.

keythkeyth, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:23 (seventeen years ago)

He's not dim, he's just inexperienced. The previous Labor leader gave him a shadow portfolio to build the party's credentials.

Garrett's big problem is that he sent decades protesting against pulp mills, damming projects, etc., yet as a politician he's had to compromise all over the place. Every politician has to compromise, but no other has had the public exposure Garrett has had. He just looks like a giant hypocrite now.

Cicciolina was in Pop Will Eat Itself then she became presedant of Italy

She did actually make an album which, in my opinion, was better than anything PWEI ever put out.

There's currently two former rock musicians (one of whom, Mikko Alatalo, had some massive hits in Finland before his current career), one former radio DJ (who specialized in playing Eurodance and techno), and one former MTV VJ in the Finnish parliament.

Tuomas, Friday, 7 December 2007 10:24 (seventeen years ago)

Alan Johnson was in a band that put out a single (or two) I believe.

Hazel Blears did some remix work for Hijack in the early 90s

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 December 2007 10:28 (seventeen years ago)

Though, if I remember correctly, both of those rock musicians have degrees in social sciences, I don't think they're totally clueless.

(xx-post)
