Because it's Xmas time and I don't have a spare $55, but it mocks me from my Amazon wishlist...

Absolutely I will not. It is a jaw-droppingly awesome box set from one of my personal favorite bands of all time and you NEED it in your collection. Go now.
Mardi Gras still sucks, though.

All those CCR albums are classic and brilliant and really soulful, but you don't need the box set because you can get all those albums at the used record store or the Salvation Army for $1 to $3 each. You can buy the entire CCR catalog for less than $10 bucks, and the "it sounds better on LP blah blah blah" is another reason to go for the LP option.

^^^ this is very true. I've done the same thing over the last couple of months and saved myself 40+ dollars. But the disc of pre-Creedence material included with this set could be interesting...
Mardi Gras still sucks, though
mostly true, but it does have "Sweet Hitchhiker" and "Someday Never Comes"

Only if John Fogarty gets a royalty payment.
He's back with Fantasy now, so who knows.

no shit!? No more Zaents Can't Dance eh
― Shakey Mo Collier, Saturday, 8 December 2007 00:18 (seventeen years ago)
which is why you should buy Chronicle instead of Mardi Gras when used rec shopping

I've owned Mardi Gras for at least 5 years and I don't think I've ever even listened to the non-Fogerty songs

To fulfill If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport's request:
many people on Amazon Reviews have been saying the sound of the remasters sucks balls.
I'm a big CCR fan, and I'm not getting it.
― Mackro Mackro, Saturday, 8 December 2007 01:06 (seventeen years ago)
And some people, like me, who have a couple SACD/CD remasters of Creedence albums think they sound just great when compared to vinyl copies.
I'd say any plan is fine. Get the vinyl. Or get the box set. Or get a mix of CDs and vinyl.
― Gorge, Saturday, 8 December 2007 01:18 (seventeen years ago)
sorry but i think you should get it. think of all the albums you have less essential than ccr that you don't already have all that shit. or not, if that helps
― kamerad, Saturday, 8 December 2007 01:32 (seventeen years ago)
Biggest advantage to the box over vinyl? The box has the otherwise-unavailable CCR foray into musique concrete ("45 Revolutions Per Minute" 1&2).
― Formerly Painful Dentistry, Saturday, 8 December 2007 03:37 (seventeen years ago)
(and considering the box originally sold for $100, $55 ain't a bad price)

You can pick it up here for under $40 (over 2 months), less if you skip the live garbage and Mardi Gras.
The box also has "Call it Pretending" which isn't on any album.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but if you'd ordered the box from amazon during the week after Thanksgiving, you'd have only paid 30 bucks for it. You bet yer ass I jumped on that bad boy.

The pre-CCR stuff is very interesting and worth hearing. The live stuff on the last disc, not so much.
