DI£ - the "has Rupert Murdoch really bought them?" rumour thread

The water cooler seems to have switched over to the red tap this week as someone in the industry who actually really knows things was able to confirm to me in fairly certain terms that Sky actually has indeed purchased Drowned In Sound.

The rumoured intent, the actual scope and particulars of which one can only imagine, is turn it into an ILX-style "Drowned in Wine", Drowned in Sex, Drowned in Food kind of a thing.

The absence of any sort of denial coming from the DI£ top does appear to be a bit telling.

Now would be the time to put in your requests for new "Drowned In.." forums! Look for "Drowned in Christianity" in 2008!

Sorry, I did do a search first, but didn't read all the way down to the end on that one as that thread appeared to be off this topic.

More fun to give it its own thread anyway...

Melting Candle to buy his daughter's production company

Elisabeth Murdoch is reportedly set to net about £370 million ($585 million) through the sale of her television production business to her father Rupert's company, News Corporation.

London's Evening Standard reported a source had said that News Corp had reached an "agreement in principle" to purchase Shine, one of the largest independent production companies in Britain, for about £700 million ($1.1 billion).

Really there needs to be a ready-reference Murdoch Warning thread (i.e. 'News Ltd has bought this product and/or service, do not give it your money').
