If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:01 (seventeen years ago)

"Good Morning Captain" but "Washer" close number two

Euler, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:02 (seventeen years ago)

WASHER!

scott seward, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:04 (seventeen years ago)

i mean, duh.

scott seward, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:04 (seventeen years ago)

"Washer" docked points because "tears" does not have two syllables.

I voted "Nosferatu Man".

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:14 (seventeen years ago)

wait, now i'm listening to good morning captain and i think i'll vote for that.

scott seward, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:16 (seventeen years ago)

"Good Morning Captain" is amazing. It so perfectly emulates the sound and feeling of a ship creaking/rocking.

Curt1s Stephens, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:36 (seventeen years ago)

good morning captain might be my favorite song ever

latebloomer, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:36 (seventeen years ago)

i love this album

latebloomer, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:37 (seventeen years ago)

haha i was divided between captain and washer before i read the thread, took captain. guess that's yr horserace.

tipsy mothra, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:42 (seventeen years ago)

I bought Tweez new and thought it was pretty good. Mostly bought it for the Saab and Albini references.

Spiderland really bummed me out when it came out. Now, I think I could appreciate it more than I did then...

That final instrumental e.p. is really good though!

Nate Carson, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:45 (seventeen years ago)

good morning captain, of course

daria-g, Saturday, 8 December 2007 04:47 (seventeen years ago)

scott seward, how did you fall into the poll trap?

Zeno, Saturday, 8 December 2007 06:29 (seventeen years ago)

GMC is def. the best on here but I don't think I'll vote. Why does Ned get all the credit for hating this?

Sundar, Saturday, 8 December 2007 06:35 (seventeen years ago)

Another Good Morning Captain vote here.

krakow, Saturday, 8 December 2007 22:20 (seventeen years ago)

For Dinner is the instro right?

ian, Saturday, 8 December 2007 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

WASHER, when the guitar comes in at 3:46 without the main riff accompanying, my heart bends.

Breadcrumb Trail a very close second.

Just got offed, Saturday, 8 December 2007 22:30 (seventeen years ago)

nosferatu fucking man, man

hstencil, Saturday, 8 December 2007 22:35 (seventeen years ago)

I'm with Ned.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 8 December 2007 23:35 (seventeen years ago)

definition of asshat: anyone who votes "for dinner"

unluckiest song in polldom: "don, aman", which is absolutely brilliant but will get no more than 2 votes (so says MYSTIC LJ).

Just got offed, Saturday, 8 December 2007 23:48 (seventeen years ago)

you are british, you do not understand anything.

ian, Saturday, 8 December 2007 23:53 (seventeen years ago)

there's a difference between liking 'for dinner' and regarding it as the best thing on here, which is insanity. i mean, i respect people's musical opinions and choices, but i can't actually conceive how you could possibly place that song ahead of the others. it's like voting 'radar maker' on a 'best song on mogwai young team' poll, it's like....oh whatever, i should probably just respect your choice.

quality zing btw. how will the transatlantic entente cope?

Just got offed, Saturday, 8 December 2007 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

that was a rhetorical zing

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 9 December 2007 03:42 (seventeen years ago)

I, also, am with Mr. Raggett.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 9 December 2007 03:45 (seventeen years ago)

Um.

I know, right?, Sunday, 9 December 2007 04:05 (seventeen years ago)

Ooh.

I know, right?, Sunday, 9 December 2007 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

...

I know, right?, Sunday, 9 December 2007 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

Nope, can't decide.

I know, right?, Sunday, 9 December 2007 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

At least if this was Tweez, I'd know to vote for Nan Ding.

I know, right?, Sunday, 9 December 2007 04:07 (seventeen years ago)

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart! 5
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

I'm voting for that one.

Mordechai Shinefield, Sunday, 9 December 2007 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

I bet I'd like Slint more if they had set Whitman to music.

Sundar, Sunday, 9 December 2007 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

Breadcrumb Trail for me.

Also, I kinda just wanted to repost this:

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 9 December 2007 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

DJ Mencap, Sunday, 9 December 2007 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

Don, Aman rules.

circa1916, Monday, 10 December 2007 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Washer is the winner hands down. The tension release at the end of the song is too perfect.

pgwp, Monday, 10 December 2007 06:16 (seventeen years ago)

DUD: People who talk about Spiderland like it's some kind of sexual experience.

ian, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

Yes it's not that an unique of amazing piece

I voted for Don, Aman!

sonderangerbot, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:30 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 14 December 2007 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

I voted Nosferatu Man. Seconded on the badassery of that instrumental EP, too.

novaheat, Friday, 14 December 2007 01:23 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 15 December 2007 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

Predictable winner

Herman G. Neuname, Saturday, 15 December 2007 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

wow! i didn't know it was that much of a landslide though. i voted for washer.

scott seward, Saturday, 15 December 2007 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

five years pass...

the inflation of math and post-rock bands that came after this record, kinda killed it for me.sadly.

nostormo, Friday, 1 March 2013 23:05 (twelve years ago)

the math rock that followed was short on atmosphere, the post-rock short on grit.

I could never tire of it, it's pretty much ingrained in me. it's as if the cover photo and the words are phantom memories, like a hypnotist has slipped them into my personal narrative, indistinguishable from actual memories. or w/e.

plus: good tunes. everyone loves tunes.
