So I eye a vinyl reissue of Guru Guru's UFO and get excited. I grab it and realize it's just the vinyl and inner sleeve, a cardboard color copy of just the front cover, and then a black and white flyer on the back on how to buy T-shirts from Cleopatra records. The vinyl is colored for no reason. There's white crust all over the front cover. At least it's cheap, right?

Nope. $20US.

So is Cleopatra really operating out of a youth center now?

Huh, there's another vinyl reissue of UFO. Done by WAH WAH RECORDS out of Spain, I believe. They also just reissued Holderin's Traum, two Broselmaschine LPs and more of that type of kosmische folk stuff.

(they'll run ya just shy of thirty bucks tho. nice heavy vinyl and gatefold sleeves, but the weak US dollar kinda fucks us all over.)

sounds like wah-wah is picking up where think progressive left off (they did tasty gatefold reissues of ufo and holderlin's traum back in the day). but wah-wah's shit is way overpriced to start with, and yeah the weak dollar...

None of which is very good.

actually, holderlin's traum is very good. since we're just making assertions.

I assert that I don't like it and you do

Tom D., Wednesday, 12 December 2007 13:15 (seventeen years ago)

there you go.

but i do think that holderlin album is one of the best german psych/acid/whatever/folk albums, and that may not be saying much because it's kind of an uncrowded field. never really got into broselmaschine, myself.

One of the Broselmaschine LPs is great; the other I listened to is just "so-so." And Holderlin are great too, IMHO. Definitely not rec'd for fans of the heavier, funkier, or more electronic aspects of other K****rock groups, but for people who are into psych/folk with some new age vibes, i think they're great listens. Not as big, for me, as the Witthuser & Westrupp records, but definitely better than yer average Shadoks unknown prog reissue/
