I dunno what to vote for now. I Feel Fine vs Don't you Want Me vs Always on My Mind, I think.

There is no good Christmas #1 actually about Christmas.

"It's Only Make Believe"

Tom D., Tuesday, 11 December 2007 16:15 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't know Make Believe was xmas number 1 till I saw the list. It sounds better in my head than on record, but still fantastic.

blueski, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 17:12 (seventeen years ago)

i'm intrigued by Christmas Alphabet tho

blueski, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

"Bohemian Rhapsody" all the way. The only serious contenders being the Beatles ones and "Merry Xmas Everybody". Why has almost every single UK Christmas #1 since the 70s been either some boring and schmaltzy MOR-crap or some pointless novelty?

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

(OK "Don't You Want Me" is of course ace as well, and even though it is possibly my least favourite single by them I know "Always On My Mind" has its fans on ILM)

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

And "Do They Know It's Christmas" topping was a good thing after all, even though the song itself isn't particularly good.

Geir Hongro, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

Jeez I didn't realise Do They Know It's Christmas had been #1 three times, amazing what you find out blahblahblah. Went for 2 Become 1. I was sure that Millenium Prayer was Xmas #1 but I guess not.
