belgian new beat: S/D

so i don't know much about this genre, but i what i have heard interesting. it sort of overlaps with industrial and early european house, not so easy to pin down.

liking:

lords of acid
beat club
a taste of sugar
confetti's
miss nicky trax

so i'm just scratching the surface here, and apparently there are industrial acts like a split second who got love on the scene and had their records played out but you couldn't really call them new beat groups in themselves.

recommendations?

i particularly like the tracks with silly vocal parts/samples

aw, ok.

used the search, didn't really come up with anything, "new" and "beat" being very common terms.

cheers for the links.

Are there any readily available New Beat comps?

there might be more too. not trying to be a party pooper. it's harder to search for stuff these days.

taste of sugar - hmm hmm

confetti's - sound of C

101 - rock to the beat

Mariella Frostrup is not impressed

i'm not interested in this stuff because "it's so bad it's good" it's because it's so bad it's just plain weird and even slightly creepy.

i find there's something about dance music before about 1991, a real coldness, i suppose that new age/hippy vibe hadn't come into it yet...

i'm only 25 tho. anyone around at the time with a bit more knowledge think there's any truth in that?

that taste of sugar vid is so cool. who knew that karen finley would be remembered for making new beat and acid house and sinead o'connor music so great instead of for government art controversies, yams, and transgressive feminist body art storytelling.
