it's about time. that "...sunshiiiine" is
one of the all time great backing vocal moments in history.

i'll be obvious and polite and point out that "into your arms" is one of the greatest songs ever, so there.

i had utterly forgotten this record until some dude playedinto your arms in a bar recently...really should dig it out...i used to get a few lines from "dawn cannt decide" suddenly and reasonlessly stuck in my head all the time...have a hilarious memory of being in the car with my mother when "big gay heart" came on wrpi...it made her uncomfortable...

Well, it is.

This album seems like two mini albums:

The first being the "wheee, our last album was a hit, here's some top tunes that we made totally inspired like!" (Into yr arms, Great bg no, Down about it, Dawn...)

The second being the "oh draaaag, it's all horrible, soul is lost, can I get some sleeeep?" (Paid to smile, Style (both), "Being Around (remake)", etc)

then they mixed them all up.

'Mrs. Robinson"

"Dawn Can't Decide" was an awesome b-side for "It's a shame about Ray", but the lyrics were inaudible. And as my g/f was called Dawn, I wanted to know what she could not decide.

This album's lyric sheet clarified everything, but hey: Dawn decided. (12 yrs married now)

"i'll do it anyway," and not just (but partly) for belinda carlisle. "i'm still a girl/ and it's just a horse/ and i got the reins".

i totally still get a rush approx 2:17 minutes into 'great big no'

also 'you can take it with you' is an unexpected alt rock gem, arriving as it does right at the end of the record

Any one the first 7, love 'em all, just can't choose between 'em.
