It kills me that I've never seen them live. I think they were the first grindcore band I ever heard.

plus one of the best band names of all time.

jesus that drummer's feet must get tired.
been acquiring most of the 'other' albums after I began my collection with Realm of Chaos and Warmaster, which are obv krieg.
I loveeeeee IVth Crusade, just some tight, crisp songwriting, feel almost the same about Those Once Loyal (just feel the former is slightly better). Do not like Mercenary much - it's very plodding to me.
What else is recommended from the BT camp? I get that this is their 'style', but results may vary obv.

"...For Victory" obviously, which is basically an improved version of "IVth Crusade".

On September 14, 2016, the first anniversary of Kearns' death, Bolt Thrower announced on their website that they are no more, explaining, "We spent over 20 years together, touring the world, with 3 different vocalists, but he was so much more than just a drummer to us. So when we carried his coffin to his final resting place, the Bolt Thrower drummer position was buried with him. He was, and will now forever remain THE Bolt Thrower drummer, our Powerhouse and friend Martin 'Kiddie' Kearns." Rumours of the band's break-up were confirmed two days later by frontman Karl Willetts, stating, "I can confirm that Bolt Thrower are definitely over for good. There will be no reunion tours etc... no compromise."

In 1997, Martin van Drunen decided to leave the band as he felt that he never really became a part of Bolt Thrower, and because he had a disease that made his hair fall out and gave him insecurity on stage

Am very much a BT noob, have been getting into the catalog via Bandcamp in past month or two, and I wish IVth Crusade had a hotter remaster--to my ears it doesn't *sound* as good as Those Once Loyal, although I don't doubt at all that the riffs more than hold their own; I also really like that Those Once Loyal give Jo Bench some shine with a significantly different gnarly bass tone and upfront mix/presence that I don't think she was granted on any of their other output
