is it an imagined mashup?

max, Saturday, 15 December 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

i don't know if that would be super cool or totally futile

cutty, Saturday, 15 December 2007 19:51 (eighteen years ago)

it's more of a british diva-off, u feel me

cutty, Saturday, 15 December 2007 19:51 (eighteen years ago)

yes i do understand and i think i choose roisin murphy

max, Saturday, 15 December 2007 19:58 (eighteen years ago)

goldfrapp wins w/ "train"

goldfrapp has a couple of good tunes, but seems hyper-aware of what she's doing, trying so hard to be sexy when she really doesn't have it at all. roisin murphy i much prefer, i bet she'd be a wicked laugh on a night out too.

each has their particular shortcomings though

goldfrapp = disturbingly horny
roisin = too twee, also loses pts for knowing matthew herbert
kathy diamond = gimmicky, also nobody would care if maurice fulton wasn't involved

goldfrapp comes across as some slightly stuck up 30 something woman you'd expect to be a middle manager trying to be a bonefide POP star.

she don't got it.

see this is what i hate about roisin, stupid "eccentricity" baggage

moonship journey to baja, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

too much "fun"

i don't mean a "zany" laugh, i mean she's seems like she knows how to party, which is what i like in a pop star, they can cut loose every now and again. goldfrapp seems like she'd just sit in the corner doing coke and worrying about her crow's feet.

Kathy Diamond FTW

moonship journey to baja, Saturday, 15 December 2007 20:42 (eighteen years ago)

i can't even listen to mu, i think on an old thread i said it makes me want to vomit at high volumes

cutty, Saturday, 15 December 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

s1ocki, Saturday, 15 December 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

i think of mu as no wave house. the kathy diamond album is one of my favorites from this year. overpowered is full of great singles and ruby blue is like a cluttered but revelatory mood swing. the only goldfrapp songs i've really enjoyed are the jlc remixes.

kathy diamond cannot sing

deej, Sunday, 16 December 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

dece album tho

deej, Sunday, 16 December 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

i don't know if she can't sing, but i get where you're coming from. she has kind of a breathy, street-y, bubblegum disco or new wave voice. it contrasts against the mood of the music very well. it depends on what you appreciate. there's certainly a difference between diamond and murphy or goldfrapp.

after a comprehensive review of iTunes snippets, Goldfrapp wins
